Unit2 Ill help to clean up the city parksSection B (1a-1e)I. Teaching materialThis lesson is very important. Its the key of Unit 2. It not only provides many important phrasal verbs, but also help to improve students listening and speaking skills. From the study of this lesson, students can learn how to be a volunteer. It is also helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also benefit to improve their society sense. From this lesson students will be encouraged to help others in many ways.II. The analysis of studentsThe students are from Grade 8, they have been learning English for many years. They understand some words and simple sentences. They are active and enjoy learning through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere. However, their English learning levels are different from each other. Some of them dont have enough English to express what or when they have problems. They need teachers help and encouragement in their future study.III. Teaching Objectives: Knowledge objectives: 1. Key words and phrases: fix, broken, wheel, fix up, give away, take after, run out of, 2. Target language: What do you do, Jimmy?I fix up bikes and give them away Ability objectives: 1. Enable students to use key words and phrasal verbs. 2. Train students listening and speaking skills 3. Help students learn to deal with new problems or situations Moral objectives:Help students know that we should try to help others and make the world better and better. IV. Teaching key and difficult points:1. Key points: Learn to use the new words and phrasal verbs. 2. Difficult points: 1. Train students speaking and listening skills 2. Learn how to be a volunteerV. Teaching methods and aids1. Methods: Task-based teaching method2. Aids: word cards, paper, PPTVI. Teaching proceduresStep I. Lead in 1. Greetings 2. Play a game: Ill show students some pictures, and ask them to watching carefully. Then ask them to work in groups to describe what they are doing in the picture. 3. Invite some groups to show their ideas and evaluate them.(Group work: review words and phrases about volunteers in section A)Step II. Pre listening1. Teach new words and phrases in 1aUse some relevant pictures to lead students to grasp new words and phrases.T: Boys and girls, I know you are very helpful, so can you help my friend?Ss:.T: Thank you. Now he is coming? Year, he is Obama. There is something wrong with his bike ,who can tell me whats wrong with his bike?Ss:T: Great! The wheel(車輪) is broken(破損的). (Lead students to read the new words.)So what can you do to help him?Ss:T: Clever! You mean you can fix up(修理) the broken wheel! Follow me please: fix up fix upBut Obama still unhappy, for his broken bike, he has run out of his money. (Teacher lead students to guess the meaning of run out of, then lead them to read)Good! So boys and girls, would you like to give away some money to him?(Also lead students to guess the meaning of give away and tell them the pronunciation)T: Thanks for your help. Obama is happing now, and he can take his daughters to go for a picnic, there are his daughters, they are very beautiful , right? Ss:.T: I think they take after their father. Do you know take after?Ss:T: Excellent! Read after me please. Boys and girls, have you got the new words and phrasal verbs? Now lets play a game and have a check2. Play a game to check the words and phrases they have learnt.T: Boys and girls, Ill show you some words and phrases, if you can read and translate them into Chinese, they will disappear, so you are the winner. Are you clear?3. Encourage students to finish the exercises in 1a, then ask them to follow the tape to read the sentences together and pay attention to the pronunciation.4. Invite some groups to check the answers in 1a.5. Teacher help students work in groups to match the phrasal verbs with the nouns, then make their own sentences with the phrasal verbs and nouns in 1b.6. Ask some volunteer groups to read their sentences in class7. Give scores to those wonderful groups, finish 1b.Step III. While listening1. Encourage students to describe those pictures in 1c in groups.(Tell them the new words and phrases in 1a can help them.)2. Encourage students to guess the right order of 1c, then lead students to listen to the dialogue together.3. Check the answer and award right groups and encourage other groups.4. Lead students to skim sentences in 1d, then listen to the dialogue again. Also give scores to some correct answers. Finish 1d.Step IV. Post - listening1. Role-play time. Encourage students to role - play a conversation between Jimmy and the reporter. (Tips: Invite a student to role-play a conversation with teacher first, so that the rest can make their own conversations on their opinions, then invite some pairs to act them out in the front of the class.)T: Boys and girls, you know Jimmy is pretty wonderful, Do you want to interview him? Now suppose you are a reporter from CCTV, and make up a conversation between you and Jimmy, and role play your conversation in the front of the class) 2. Award wonderful pairs with scores.3. Group work: Jimmy gets in trouble now. He has run out of his money, but he still wants to help those poor children, Can you help him to raise money? How to help Jimmy?What can you do?_hand out put up put off call up come up with( Maybe these phrases can help you to describe your plans more clearly)4. Choose one student from each group, this students can go to another group to share his plans.5. Invite some groups to show their plans in the front of the class, and give awards to the wonderful groups.6. Teacher also writes down some ideas without some phrasal verbs, lead students to fill the blanks with new phrasal verbs that we have learnt.(The passage is from Self Check on P16.)7.
