2、sis of the studentsTeaching methodsLearning methodsTeaching aidsTeaching proceduresBlackboard designLets begin with the first part: analysis of the teaching materials.In this unit,the topic is about customs. Different countries havedifferent customs.By learning this unit I want to tell students what
3、 they are supposed todo in different situations and get them to know different countries customs.Studentscan introduce Chinese customs and askforthe different customs of other countries.By doing this, I also want to arouse theircultural awareness. Now, Ill talk about teaching aims.One, knowledge aim
4、s. Learn the new words and phrases and master the sentencestructure.Know about some customs in some countries and people s living habits.And learn how to behave well when we meet thesecountries people, know what we are supposed to do.Two, ability aims. Train students basic abilities of speaking, rea
5、ding and writingaround visiting other countries.Enable the students to know some customs as well asgetting useful information from them.Three, moral aims. Let my students learn to respect others, especially their livinghabits and their national customs. And to be a polite person, to make otherscomfo
6、rtable and happy. After they know these behaviors, they try to be more confidentin every situation.Now, let s moveon to teaching key points and difficulties. The important points are toenable the students to master the key words and sentence structures.Be able to talkabout customs and what you are s
7、upposed to do.The difficulty is to train the students listening,speaking and writing skills using thetarget language.Next, I ll say something about students. Analysis of the students.Our lessons are face to the students of Grade Nine. After two-month learning, theyhave alreadypossessed some English
8、and they can also understand some words and sentences.And we all know that, as teenagers, they are curious, active, and fond of games,competitions.Next, we ll talk about the third part, teaching methods.Ill mainly use audio -visual teaching method, communicative teaching method, andtask-based teachi
9、ng method.Then, learning methods.According to the features of the teenagers, Id like to makemystud ents learn thislesson through preview, games, cooperation. let the students take part in the groupwork, communicate with each other, help each other, complete the tasks together.Part five teaching aids
10、.As we all know, it s necessary for teachers to usemodern teachingfacilities. It s of great help to increase the class density, and improve our teachingresults. So, Id like to use PPT, tape recorder and pictures.Part six teaching procedures. I design it into 4 steps.Step 1 Warming up& Revision Fist
11、of all, Ill greet mystudents as usual, then showpictures and introduce some body language.At the same time, I will present a sentence:Different countries have different customs. And emphasize the new word.Step 2 Presentation. Ill ask a question: “Whenyou meet someonefor the firsttime,what should you

And then Ill show a picture about customs in ourcountry.Next I present the sentence pattern: We are supposed to shakehands.Afterwards, I will explain the meaning of“be supposed todo”and “be not supposed to do ”In order to consolidate this pattern, I will show other countries and other customs,
13、andlet my students make conversations.Next, ask students to match the customs with thecountries,and play the tape,check the answers.Step 3 Prctice. Firstly, tell students to talk about the customs in those countries in1a,and make their own conversations using the information in 1a.students to read t
14、he mistakes in the chart the tapetwice,get students to finish off theStep 4 Consolidation. Ill ask students to work in pairs to make newconversations using the information in 2a and 2d. As students are working, movearound the classroom checking the progress and offering help as needed. After allstudents finish this activity, ask oneor two pairs ofstudents to act out their conversations to the class.Last step Homework Finish the exercise in the workbook
