Eventually,shewasreferredtoattorneysLindaCoffeeandSarahWeddington.In1970,the2attorneysfiledsuitinaU.S.DistrictCourtinTexasonbehalfofMcCorvey(underthealiasJaneRoe).ThedefendantinthecasewasDallasCountyDistrictAttorneyHenryWadewhorepresentedtheStateofTexas.TheyaccusedtheabortioninjunctioninTexasofinfringingherpravicy.Thedistrictcourt'sdecisionwasbaseduponthe9thAmendment,whichensuredpeople'srightaboutpravicy.Butthecourtdidn'tproposeaninjunctionagainsttheanti-abortionlawinTexas.
