GMAT 16.ThefollowingappearedaspartofanarticleintheeducationsectionofaWaymarshCitynewspaper.“Throughoutthelasttwodecades,thosewhoearnedgraduatedegreesfounditverydifficulttogetjobsteachingtheiracadem[icspecialtiesatthecollegelevel.ThosewithgraduatedegreesfromWaymarshUniversityhadanespeciallyhardtimefindingsuchjobs.Butbettertimesarecominginthenextdecadeforallacademicjobseekers,includingthosefromWaymarsh.Demographictrendsindicatethatanincreasingnumberofpeoplewillbereachingcollegeageoverthenexttenyears;consequently,wecanexpectthatthejobmarketwillimprovedramaticallyforpeopleseekingcollege-levelteachingpositionsintheirfields.”范Theauthorutilizesdemographictrendswhichindicateanincreaseinthenumberofcollege-agedpeopleoverthenexttenyearsinordertospeculateonanimprovedjobmarketforallpeopleseekingcollege-levelteachingpositionsintheiracademicdisciplines.Moreover,theauthorarguesthatbecausegraduateswithadvanceddegreesfromWaymarshUniversityhavehadanespeciallydifficulttimefindingteachingjobsinthepast,theincreasednumberofcollege-agedpeopleportendsbettertimesaheadforWaymarshgraduates.Despiteitsroseyprospects,thisargumentisproblematicinthreeimportantways.First,theauthormakestheassumptionthatanincreaseofcollege-agedpeopleoverthenextdecadewillinevitablyresultinanincreaseofpeopleattendingcollegeduringthesameperiod.Whilethisisnotanunreasonableassumption,itisnotacertainty.Forexample,aworldwaroreconomiccollapseduringthenextdecadewouldmostdefiniyhaveanadverseeffectonprospectivestudents,teachersalongwitheveryothersectorofsociety.Second,wemustalsoconsidertheadditionalassumptionthatincreaseduniversityenrollmentsleadstoagreateravailablenumberofteachingpositionsinallfields.Itmightturnoutthatsomefieldsofexpertiseareingreaterdemandthanothers,resultinginadisproportionayhighorlownumberofteachingpositionsinvariousfields.Consequently,expertstrainedinsomefieldsmightfinditstilldifficult,tofindteachingjobsdespitehigherenrollmentnumbersamongstudents.Finally,basedontheinformationprovidedintheargument,theemployabilityofWaymarshgraduatesisstillanunclearanduncertainpoint.TheargumentlacksinformationastowhyWaymarshgraduateshadanespeciallydifficulttimefindingteachingjobs,amdthusmakesitdifficulttoassesstheirfutureprospects.ItislikelythatsinceWaymarshhashadahardtimeplacinggraduatesinthepast,morejobopeningswillnotinvariablyensurethatWaymarshgraduateswillhavemorechancestofindteachingjobsoverthenextdecade.Inconclusi
