Thetwogirlscontinuedontheirway,andmymotherlaythereonthesidewalk,bleeding.Myfathercamerunning,

andhecarriedmymotherintothehouse.Hesetherdownonakitchenchairandgotbusycleaningherwoundswitha

wetwashcloth.Astheywashedthewounds,mymotherlookedatherweddingringonherfinger,onlytofindthe

diamondwasgone.

Mybrotherand1ranoutsidetolookfbrthemissingdiamond.Theplaceshefellonthesidewalkwascovered

withsmallrocks.Wchadnoluck.Mymotherwentoutandsearchedaswell,onherpainfulhandsandknees.Many

peoplespentmanyhourssearchingtheareaoverthenextseveraldays,allinvain.Mymother'sweddingring,although

notfancy,waspricelesstoher.
