當(dāng)代英語動(dòng)詞時(shí)態(tài)體系的認(rèn)知研究的中期報(bào)告Introduction:ThecognitivestudyofcontemporaryEnglishverbtensesystemaimstoinvestigatehowspeakersofEnglishuseverbtensestoconveydifferenttemporalmeaningsindiscourse,andhowtheircognitiveresourcesareorganizedtoaccomplishthistask.Inthismid-termreport,Iwillprovideanoverviewofthecurrentstatusofmyresearchproject,includingtheresearchquestions,theoreticalframework,researchdesign,datacollection,andanalysis.ResearchQuestions:Themainresearchquestionsofmystudyareasfollows:1)WhatarethecognitivemechanismsunderlyingtheproductionandcomprehensionofdifferentverbtensesinEnglish?2)HowdospeakersofEnglishuseverbtensestoencodetemporalinformationindiscourse,andwhatfactorsinfluencetheirchoices?3)WhatarethesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenthetemporalsystemsofEnglishandotherlanguages,andhowcantheybeexplainedbythecognitiveandlinguisticfactors?TheoreticalFramework:Thetheoreticalframeworkofmystudyisbasedonthecognitivelinguisticapproach(CLA)andtheusage-basedmodeloflanguageacquisition.AccordingtoCLA,languageisacognitivephenomenonthatreflectsthewaythehumanmindorganizesandcategorizestheworldbasedonembodiedexperience,conceptualstructures,anddiscoursepractices.Theusage-basedmodelpositsthatlanguageislearnedandusedthroughexposuretorichanddiverselinguisticinputandsocialinteraction,whichshapethecognitiveandlinguisticresourcesofthespeakers.ResearchDesign:Toaddresstheresearchquestions,Iemployedamixed-methodsapproachthatcombinescorpusanalysis,psycholinguisticexperiments,anddiscourseanalysis.Firstly,Icollectedalargecorpusofauthenticspokenandwrittendiscoursefromvarioussources,suchasnewsarticles,academicjournals,novels,andsocialmediaplatforms,usingdifferentsamplingmethods.Secondly,Iconductedaseriesofpsycholinguisticexperiments,suchassentencecompletiontask,interpretationtask,picturedescriptiontask,andgrammaticalityjudgmenttask,targetingdifferentverbtensesandcontextsofuse.Finally,Ianalyzedthedatausingquantitativeandqualitativemethods,suchasfrequencyanalysis,logisticregressionanalysis,anddiscourseanalysis,toidentifythepatternsofuseandthecognitiveandlinguisticfactorsthatinfluencetheparticipants'productionandcomprehensionofverbtenses.DataCollection:Sofar,Ihavecollectedacorpusofabout2millionwordsofwrittenandspokenEnglishfromvarioussources,includingtheBritishNationalCorpus,theCorpusofContemporaryAmericanEnglish,andselectednewspapers,journals,andonlinemediaplatforms.Thecorpusincludesawiderangeofdiscoursegenres,suchasnewsarticles,academicpapers,novels,blogs,andsocialmediaposts,andcoversdifferenttopics,domains,andregisters.Inaddition,Ihaveconductedthreepsycholinguisticexperiments,targetingthepresenttense,pasttense,andpresentperfecttense,respectively,withatotalof100participantsfromdifferentlanguagebackgroundsandproficiencylevels.DataAnalysis:Thedataanalysisisstillongoing,andpreliminaryresultsshowthattherearesignificantdifferencesintheuseandinterpretationofverbtensesinEnglishdependingonthecontextsofuse,thecommunicativeintentions,andthespeakers'cognitiveandlinguisticprofiles.Forexample,thepresenttenseismorefrequentlyusedinnewsarticlesandacademicpaperstoreportfactsorgeneraltruths,whilethepasttenseismorecommoninnarrativesandpersonalaccountstodescribepasteventsorexperiences.Thepresentperfecttenseisoftenusedtoemphasizetherelevanceofpasteventstothepresentmomentortosignalcompletionofapastaction.Theresultsofthepsycholinguisticexperimentsalsosuggestthattheparticipants'responsesareinfluencedbythesalienceofthetemporalinformation,theaspectualandmodalpropertiesoftheverbs,andthediscoursecoherenceandcohesion.Conclusion:Inconclusion,thestudyofcontemporaryEnglishverbtensesystemfromacognitivelinguisticperspectiveisacomplexandchallengingtaskthatrequiresamultidisciplinaryandmultimodalapproach.Thepreliminaryresultsofmystudyshowthatthecognitiveprocessesandlinguisticpatternsinvolvedintheuseandinterpretationofverbtensesarecontext-dependentanddynamic,andreflecttheinterplaybetweenind
