RequirementsAnalysisTheaimofrequirementsanalysisistodiscoverproblemswiththesystemrequirements,especiallyincompletenessandinconsistencies.Someanalysisisinter-leavedwithrequirementselicitation,asproblemsaresometimesobviousassoonasarequirementisexpressed.

RequirementsAnalysisStages1)NecessityCheckingTheneedfortherequirementisanalyzed.Insomecases,requirementsmaybeproposedwhichdon’tcontributetothebusinessgoalsoftheorganizationortothespecificproblemtobeaddressedbythesystem.8

RequirementsAnalysisStages2)ConsistencyandCompletenessCheckingTherequirementsarecross-checkedforconsistencyandcompleteness.Consistencymeansthatnorequirementsshouldbecontradictory;Completenessmeansthatnoservicesorconstraintswhichareneededhavebeenmissedout.9

RequirementsNegotiationDisagreementsaboutrequirementsareinevitablewhenasystemhasmanystakeholders.Conflictsarenot‘failures’butreflectdifferentstakeholderneedsandprioritiesRequirementsnegotiationistheprocessofdiscussingrequirementsconflictsandreachingacompromisethatallstakeholderscanagreeto20

RequirementsNegotiationInplanningarequirementsengineeringprocess,itisimportanttoleaveenoughtimefornegotiation.Findinganacceptablecompromisecanbetime-consuming.Thefinalrequirementswillalwaysbeacompromisewhichisgovernedbytheneedsoftheorganizationingeneral,thespecificrequirementsofdifferentstakeholders,designandimplementationconstraints,andthebudgetandscheduleforthesystemdevelopment21
