domesticandindustrial.Everytoaster,lawnmowerandmobilephoneisdesignedto
minimizetheriskofcausinginjury——yetpeoplestillmanagetoelectrocute(電死)
themselves,losefingersorfalloutofwindowsinanefforttogetabettersignal.At
theveryleast,robotsmustmeettherigoroussafetystandardsthatcoverexisting
products.Thequestioniswhethernew,robot-specificrulesareneeded—and,ifso,
whattheyshouldsay.
