And such a topic is so related to our daily life that its easy to arouse students learning interests. In accordance with the teaching material and the new syllabus of English, I designed the following objectives:II. Teaching objectives:1. Knowledge and abilities: To let students be further familiar with the grammar structure “present perfect tense”: To train students comprehensive abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing 2. Procedures and methods: To help students learn how to use the reading strategies in the reading comprehension, such as prediction, skimming, scanning, and guessing the meaning of the words from the context.3. Emotional attitudes and moral values: To let students express their hometown feelings and arouse the students love to their hometowns.III. Teaching key points and difficult points:Key points: 1. To let the students learn how to use the reading strategies in reading comprehension.2. To use present perfect tense to talk about changes in hometowns.Difficult points: 1. To let the students use suitable reading strategies in different reading tasks.2. To use present perfect tense to talk about changes in hometowns.IV. Teaching approaches and learning methods1. Teaching approaches: I will adopt task-based language teaching approach and situational teaching approach 2. Learning methods:Cooperation and self studying will be taken.V. Analysis of the studentsStudents in Grade 8 have learned English for some years. And they can communicate with others in English, using simple words and expressions. Guessing game: Read the following sentences and guess where it is.It is a place. It gives you sweet memories.You were born there.You spent your childhood there. You grew up there. 2. How many of you came to Wuhan when you were a child? And where is your hometown? What do you feel about your hometown?Stimulate the students learning interest and lead in the topic: changes, hometown feelings.Step 2Pre-readingEncourage students to discuss the questions relating to the text before reading it.Discuss the questions:1. Why do millions of Chinese leave the countryside every year?2. How often do you think these people visit their hometown?3. How do they feel when they are far from hometowns?Train students ability to use their former knowledge to predict what the text is about.Ask students to guess the main idea through the title and the pictures.Try to guess the main idea with the help of the title and picturesQ: What does the passage mainly talk about?A: Hometown stays the same.B: Hometown has changed.Train students ability to use the title and pictures to predict what the text is about.Step 3While-readingFast readingAsk students to read the text quickly and match each part with the main ideas.Read the text quickly and match each part with the main ideas:Part 1 Many Chinese leave hometowns to search for work, such as Zhong Wei. Part 2 Their hometowns have changed. Part 3 Some things will never change, like many soft and sweet memories.
