第1頁附錄DEVELOPMENTANDAPPLICATIONOFPLASTICSMOLDINGCAD/CAM/CAESYSTEMYuHuaKongZhenyuAdvancedManufacturingTechnologyCenter,HarbininstituteoftechnologyABSTRACT:thispaperdescribesfeaturesofplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEintegratedsystemandprocessofapplyingthesystemtopractice.DevelopmentandapplicationofI-DEAS(integrateddesignengineeringsoftware)wereperformedinviewofactualplasticsmolding.TheresultsshowthatplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEsystemisapracticalandefficienttechniquewhichisworthspreading.KEYWORDS:plasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAE;integrated;I-DEAS1.introductionPlasticsmoldingisthemainmethodofproducingplasticsproduct.Itdevelopsinhighspeedbutitshistoryisshort.Plasticsmoldingisalsousedextensively.Accordingtothestatistics,thequantityofplasticsmoldingisabout28%ofthatofallmolding,butthetraditionaldesignofplasticsmoldingislowefficient,longperiodicandwasteful.Itcontradictswiththedevelopmentofplasticsindustry.Withthedevelopmentoftechniqueincomputer,numericalcontrolandplasticsfluid,plasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEhasbeenappliedextensivelyatpresent2.plasticsMoldingCAD/CAM/CAEsystem2.1processofplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAETheintegrationofCAD/CAM/CAEchangesthetraditionalmodeofproducingmolding.Fig.1showtheintegratedprocess.第2頁Intraditionaldesign,itisrequiredtoproduceactualsolidmoldingtoevaluatetheappearanceandtestthefunctionofproductwhentheproductconstructionisfinished.Bycontrast,inCAD/CAM/CAEsystem,byusingsolidgeometrymodelinguserscandisplaythepictureofproductvividlyongraphicterminal,evaluatetheappearanceandmodelingtechnologythroughobservingthescreen,andneednotproduceactualsolidmodeling.ByusingfiniteFig1processofplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEElementmethodanalysissoftware,userscanalsotestthemechanicalfunctionsofproduct.ThemainfeatureofCAD/CAMsystemisthegenerationofacommondatabasewhichisusedforalldesignandmanufacturingactivities,soanotherfunctionofgeometrymodelingistoprovidegeometrydataforthefamiliesofplasticsanalysisandgraphicnumericalcontrol,hencetheredundant第3頁dataisavoided,andtheefficiencyandprevisionareimproved.Threedimensionalgeometrysolidscanalsobeconvertedintotwodimensionalengineeringdrawing,sodesignerwouldberelaxedfromdraftingandcalculating,concentratedoncreativework.Whenfinishingthepreliminarydesign,userscouldcheckthemoldingtechnologyandtheextentofmoldingconstructionbyusingCAEsoftware,thatistosay,usersshouldsimulatetheprocessofplasticsinjectionbeforethemoldingismanufactured.ThroughtheanalysisofCAEsoftware,allkindsofresultsaregottenineachphaseofplasticsinjection,suchastemperature,pressure,stress,fillingtime,coolingtime,warpageandshrinkage,etc.theseresultsarealsoshownwithabundantmodesofpostprocess.Userscanperformaquantitativeorqualitativeanalysis.Iftherearesomeproblem,thedesigncouldbecorrectincomputer.theinteractionisoperatedbetweenCADandCAEuntilthereasonableresultsaregotten.Notasthetraditionalprocess,themoldingwouldbemodifiedwhenithasbeenmanufacturedifsomethingiswrong,soprocessperiodishortendramatically,andefficiencyandprevisionareimproved.Wheninjectingsimulationisfinished,iftheresultsarereasonable,itshowsthedesignisapplicable.Thenextstepistofinishdetaildesignandmanufacturingtechnology,preparetomanufacture.Recently,thetechniqueofnumericalcontrol(NC)makesagreatprogress.Theautomaticallyprogrammedtool(APT)appearedin1960spromotedthedevelopmentofNCtechnologydramatically.APTisalsousedwidelyatpresent,butitalsohassomedefects,suchaslowefficiency,etc.atpresent,thedevelopmentorientationofNCistomergeCADandCAMintoanorganicwhole,soCAD/CAMisaunifiedsoftwaresystem,inwhichtheCADportionisinterfacedinsidethecomputerwiththeCAMsystem.Thereforethetrackofcuttingtooliscreatedwiththemodeofman-machineinteractionbyusingthegeometrydatafullywhichiscreatedinthephaseofCAD.Nowanewprogrammingtechniquehasbeencomeintousinggraphicnumericalcontrol第4頁(GNC)basedongraphic.Inthesystem,cuttingtool,workpieceandfixturearedisplayedoncomputerscreenbygeneratinganimation,sothetrackoftoolisoptimumandsafety.Insum,GNCsystemisveryefficientandconvenient.2.2applicationofI-DEASsoftwareinpracticeOuradvancedmanufacturingtechnologycenter(AMMTEC)ofharbininstituteoftechnologymakesanefforttodevelopintegratedsystemofCAD/CAM/CAE.AMTECwasfoundedin1992.itimportedmanyNCmachinesandlargestyleengineeringsoftwareIDEAS(integrated-designengineeringanalysissoftware)withwhichequipsIBM-RISC6000workstation,sowehavetheconditiontoapplyplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEsystemtodesign,analysisandmanufacturingofplasticsmolding.I-DEASisatypeofsyntheticallyautomaticsoftware.Itintegratesthefunctionsofdesign,drawing,engineeringanalysis,digitalsimulationofplasticsmolding,numericalcontrolprogrammingandtest.Thefamiliesofgeometrymodeling,plasticsanalysisandgraphicnumericalcontrolconstituteaplasticsmoldingCAD/CAM/CAEsystem.Wewoulddesignandmanufactureasetofmoldingwhichproducestheplasticpedalof“jetta”car(productmaterialisnylon-66)forthefirstAutomobileWorkofcityofchangchun.Itisdifficultytodesignandmanufacturethemoldingbecausetheshapeofpedalisverycomplicated,sowedecidedtoapplythefamiliesofI-DEAStodesign,analysisandNCprogramming.I-DEASsolidmodel
