5、uld be emphasized, mostly at the uni versity level3.No matter howpeople look at self-regulated learning , its esse nee is that self-regulated lear nersshould be resp on siblefor their own learning.Therefore , to develop self-regulatedlearning we must find out a way to help stude nts realize what the

6、y do in learning process and review what they can do to enhance their personal awareness while learning , thus students awareness cometo change their notion of learning and stimulate in tr in sic lear ning motivati on. Lear ning jour nals are regarded as a way to achieve this purpose.2. Applicati on

7、 of Lear ning Jour nals in En glish Lear ning2.1 Lear ning Journ als in Gen eral FieldThe literature on lear ning jour nals are quite a few.In Ying Danjun4 ' s article , The Application of Learning Journals and the Cultivation of Students' Self -regulatedLearning in the ESLCurriculum Innovat

8、ion , the author presents the idea that learner' journals not only are a good approachto Ian guage practice, but also can help stude nts to reflectregularly on their own lear ning experie nces in the process of curriculum innovation , try to be aware of their learning needs, form new lear ning c

9、on cepts, and in crease con fide nee and thesense of achievement , which could help to develop students ' self-regulated lear ning.Long Mei 5 finds out in her How to Cultivate StudentsAbility of Self-regulated Learning with the Application ofLear ning Jour nals in En glish Teachi ng in 2005, tha

10、tlear ningjournals work in cultivating the ability of self-regulated study through questi onn aires and collect ing stude nts'learning journals. According to this article, learningjour nals can help stude nts to reflect on experie nces and promote self-learning , clear learning requirements, adj

11、ustlearning methods , optimize learning strategies , monitor learning behavior , stre ngthe n the com muni catio n betwee n teachers and stude nts and provide teachi ng feedback for teachers.Wu Xuehui6 prese nts the similar idea in herLearning Journals-A Effective Wayto Cultivate Self-regulated Lear

12、ning , that the change of learning subject leads to the inno vatio n of view on kno wledge and value and the updat ing ofteachers ' roles they palm. Based on these findings, the newcurriculum puts forward the n ecessity of cha nging lear ning methods of stude nts. And this article takes lear nin

13、g jour nals as a new learning method to learn the new curriculum so as to achieve the purpose of self-lear ning and life long lear ning.2.2 Lear ning Jour nals in En glish Writ ingBesides the literature in the functions of learningjournals in English learning in the general field, there arealso some

14、 researchers con sideri ng lear ning journ als as a good way to promote college stude nts' En glish writ ing. In ZhuLiya7 ' s Guiding Writing : Strategies and Skills Beginning with the Personal Essay , she describes the current problems existing in college students' Englis h writing, i.e

And to solve these two problems she tries and finds out , lear ning journ als is a good tool to cultivate in terest and help stude nt to rebuilt con fide nce inEnglish writing. She also says journal writing plays somepart of improving the students ' writi

16、ng abilities and students will makesomeprogress soon using the journals in English writing.Compared with the study in other fields , the application of learning journals in English writing is not so abundant. As the importa nce of promot ing college stude nts' En glish writing , it is necessary
