17、uchasthehippocampus,whichistraditionallyassociatedwithmemoryloss.Theprefrontalcortexisinvolvedinarangeofcomplexcognitiveprocesses,suchasplanning,decisionmaking,andselectiveretrievalofmemory.Extensiveresearchshowsthispartofthebrainworksincombinationwiththehippocampustoretrievespecificmemories.Ifthehi
18、ppocampusisthesearchengine,theprefrontalcortexisthefilterdeterminingwhichmemoryisthemostrelevant.Thissuggeststhatstoringinformationaloneisnotenoughforagoodmemory.Thebrainalsoneedstobeabletoaccesstherelevantinformationwithoutbeingdistractedbysimilarcompetingpiecesofinformation.Indailylife,forgettinga
