efromemploymentforallagesislowerforwomenthanformen.~Oneinthreeemployedwomenandoneintenemployedmenworkpart-time.Women'sworkingtimeisinfluencedbythenumberandageoftheirchildren,butmen'sworkingtimeisnotaffectedbythesefactors.Ofallemployees,only13percentofthewomenand12percentofthemenhaveoccupationswithanevendistributionofthesexes.Confrontedwithsuchfacts,someSwedishactivistsandlegislatorsaredemandingmoreextremeandfar-reachingmeasures,suchasreplacingmaleandfemalepronounswithaneutralalternativeandmonitoringchildrenmorecloselytocorrectthemwhentheygravitatetowardgenderedplay.WhenitcametolightlastyearthatUlfKristersson,ministerofsocialsecurity,quicklycommissionedastudytodeterminethecausesofandpossiblecuresforthisdisturbingstateofaffairs.Swedishfamilypolicies,bymodatingwomen'spreferenceseffectively,arereducingthenumberofwomeninelitecompetitivepositions.TheSwedeswillfindthisparadoxicalandtrytofindsolutions.Letushopethesedonotincludebanninggenderpronouns,policingchildren'splay,implementingmoregenderquotas,ortreatingwomen'sspecialattaenttohomeandfamilyasasocialinjustice.Mostmothersdonotaspireto向往elite,competitivefull-timepositions:theSwedishpolicieshavegiventhemthefreedomandopportunitytolivethelivestheyprefer.AmericansshouldlookpasttderrhetoricandconsiderwhattheseScandinavianshaveachieved.Ontheirwaytocreatingafeministparadise,theSwedeshaveunintentionallycreatedahaven()fornormalmortals.2Swedenhasdonemorethanothernationstoclosetdergap,butitcontinuestoexist.thegreatestlifeMoreAmericanwomenholdelitejobpositionsinbusinessthanSwedishSwedishfamily-friendlypoliciestendtoexertanegativeinfluenceonwomen'scareers.50.ThequotasysteminSwedenensureswomen'sbetterrepresentationinThoughtheSwedishmodelappearsworkableformostAmericanparents,itmaynotbeacceptedbythemin
