TheCrossCulturalCommunicationofHotelsundertheDifferencesofEnglishandChineseWaysofThinking1IntroductionThesignlanguageinthepublicenvironmentisaformoflanguageexpression.Itistheproductofthelong-termaccumulationofnationalculture.Italwayscarriesveryrichsocial,historicalandculturalinformationandembodiesthetypicalcharacteristicsofnationalculture.Asapublicplacewithoutborders,hotelintroductionandrelatedservicetermsarespecialsignsinthepublicenvironment.Therefore,intheprocessoftranslation,thetranslatorshouldexploretheoriginofthewordsandaccuratelyinterprettheirsocialandculturalsignificance.Otherwise,itwillleadtoculturalerrorsintranslation.Foralongtime,duetothestrongfunctionalityofhotelterms,therearemanystudiesonfunctionaltranslationtheory.However,therearefewstudiesonitsEnglishtranslationfromcross-culturalperspective.Therefore,fromcross-culturalperspective,thispaperanalyzesitsEnglishtranslationbycombiningtheoryandpracticewithpracticalcases.Thismakesupfortheblankofthiskindofresearchtoacertainextent.Therefore,thestudyofthistopichascertaintheoreticalsignificanceintranslationandEnglishapplicationresearch.LiteratureReviewForeignStudiesonthedifferencesbetweenEnglishandChinesemodesofthinkinghavealonghistoryandarerelativelymature.Whetherthetranslatedtextisfaithfultotheoriginaloftendependsonthepurposeofculturalcommunication.In1978,VermeerfirstputforwardtheSkoposTheoryofculturalcommunicationofsocialcultureandcommunicativefunction,whichmarkstheemergenceofSkopostheory(ChristianeNord2001).AccordingtoVermeer,culturalcommunicationisnotatranscodingprocess,butaconcreteformofhumanaction(RobinsonDouglas1991).Everyactionhasapurpose,soculturalcommunicationisalsodominatedbythepurpose.Beforeanyculturalcommunicationactionstarts,wemustfirstmakeclearwhatitspurposeis,otherwisewecannotcarryoutculturalcommunication,thatis,thepurposeprincipleofculturalcommunication.InadditiontotheSkoposprinciple,SkoposTheoryalsohascoherenceprincipleandfaithfulnessprinciple(ReissKatharina2004).Domesticscholarshavemadeausefulexplorationonthestrategiesofinterculturalcommunicationinhotels.Someofthemdiscussedtranslationerrorsandtheircountermeasures(ChenZhijie2009).Someofthemanalyzethegenreofthehotelprofile(ZhangMeifang2006).Theotheristouselinguistictheorytostudy.However,itisnotdifficulttoseefromtheexistingliteraturethattherelevantresearchisstillinthestageofempiricalrandomcomment,andlackssystematicguidingprinciplesfrommacrotomicro.Becauselanguageisthecarrierofcultureandtranslationisabridgeofinterculturalcommunication,theEnglishtranslationintroducedbyhotelsisnotonlytheprocessofspreadingChineseculture,butalsotheprocessofinterculturalcommunication.ResearchMethodFromtheperspectiveofcross-culturalcommunication,thispaperstudiesandanalyzestheEnglishtranslationofhotelintroductionbyusingthemethodsofliteraturereviewandcasestudy.StructureThefulltextisdividedintofiveparts.Thefirstpartexpoundstheresearchbackground,researchmethodsandsignificanceofthisstudy.Thesecondpartreviewstheoriginanddevelopmentofinterculturalcommunicationtheory,andexpoundstheresearchstatusathomeandabroad.Thethirdpartgivesabriefintroductiontothecross-culturaltranslationofpublicsigns.TakingXhotelasanexample,thispapergivesabriefintroductionofthehotelandanalyzesitsEnglishtranslation.ThefourthpartanalyzestheEnglishtranslationofthehotel'sintroductionfromtheperspectiveofcross-culturalcommunicationintermsofgrammar,pragmaticsandemotion.Thefifthpartdrawsthecorrespondingconclusionthroughtheaboveanalysis.Inordertoprovidesomesuggestionsandreferencefortranslationpracticeinrelatedfields.WorksCited
