process,itisadvisabletosubmittheapplicationwellaheadof

thedatebywhichyouneedentryforyoureducationcourse.

However,notethatEmbassiescannotissueyourstudentvisa

morethan120daysinadvanceoftheeducationcoursestart-

ingdate.Studentsmaynotenterthecountrymorethan30

daysbeforetheirstudystartdate.

ToqualifyforastudentvisatotheUnitedStates,youmust

havearesidenceabroad,andtheintentiontoreturntothat

residenceuponcompletionofyoureducationprogram.You

6.2StudentWorkPermitsintheUnitedStates

Asanundergraduateorpostgraduateinternationalstudent

studyingintheUnitedStates,employmentispossibleona

part-timebasisforupto20hourseveryweek.Duringthe

firstyearofeducation,studentsmayonlyworkon-campus,

suchasattheschool’sgym,cafeteria,bookstore,orlibrary.

Workingfor10to15hoursperweekmaybeenoughto

coverbooksandpersonalexpenses,butwillnotcoverthe

majorityofeducationcosts.

AfterthefirstyearofeducationintheUSA,youmayapply

forapositionasaresidentialassistant(RA).AnRAoversees

studenthousing,actingasapointofcontactforanyques

tionsorissuesstudentsmayhave.Inreturn,theRAispaid
