Theresearchteamidentified16human-inducedthreatstomigratorybirds,includinginfrastructure

associatedwithbirddisturbanceandimpacts,transfonnationoflandfromnaturalhabitattohumanland

use,andclimatechange.Advancesinsatelliteimageryallowedtheteamtomapeachofthe16threats

acrossEurope,AfricaandWesternAsia.Theteamalsocreatedthefirsteverlarge-scalemapofhunting

pressureacrosstheregion.Atotalof103speciesofmigratingbirdswerestudied,includingmanyrapidly

decliningspeciesliketheturtledoveandthecommoncuckoo,usinglarge-scaledatasets.Theteam

calculatedthreatscoresfbrfactorssuchashabitatlossandclimatechange,acrossbreedinglocations,as

wellasnon-breedingranges.Theythenexploredtherelationshipsbetweenthesethreatscoresandbird
