在湘西風(fēng)光秀麗,人情質(zhì)樸的邊遠(yuǎn)小城,生活著靠擺渡為生的祖孫二人,外公年逾七十,仍很健朗;孫女翠翠十五歲,情竇初開。他們純樸善良,辛苦擺渡,熱情助人。

兩年前在端午節(jié)賽龍舟的盛會(huì)上,清純的翠翠邂逅當(dāng)?shù)卮偟亩贍攦?,從此種下情苗。儺送的哥哥天保也喜歡上美麗的翠翠,托人向翠翠的外公求親。地方上的王團(tuán)總也看上了儺送,情愿以碾坊作陪嫁把女兒嫁給儺送。儺送不要碾坊,小說簡(jiǎn)介想娶翠翠為妻,寧愿做個(gè)擺擺渡人。于是兄弟倆相約唱歌求婚,讓翠翠選擇。

天保知道翠翠喜歡儺送,為了成全弟弟,外出闖灘,遇意外而死。儺送覺得自己對(duì)哥哥的死負(fù)有責(zé)任,拋下翠翠出走他鄉(xiāng)。

外公因翠翠的婚事操心擔(dān)憂,在風(fēng)雨之夜去世。留下翠翠孤獨(dú)地守著渡船,癡心地等著儺送歸來,“這個(gè)人也許永遠(yuǎn)不回來了,也許明天回來!”Itwasfirstpublishedin1934.ThestorywassetinthesmallmountaintownofphoenixinwesternHunancalledChadong.Thestorypraisedloveandhelpbetweenneighborsandpureaffectionbetweenthemenandwomen.Italsovividlydemonstratedthebordertownofpeople'shealth,beautyandplainfolkwaysandcustoms.Thestorywasaboutthelovestorybetweencuicui,anoldferryman’sgranddaughterandthetwobrothers-TianbaoandNuosong,sonsoftheleaderoftheboatbusinesses.Inthetownofphoenix,theauthorgiveshisdescriptionsofallthepeopleinakindofhonest,simplehumannature.Thusreader’scanimprovethegoodqualityofpursuingthetrue,thegoodandthebeautiful.Aboutthenovel文化因素
