peopleattendcollegepercapitanowasdidfortyyearsago.Butallthatexpansionchangedcolleges.Inthepast,theyhadcateredtoelitestudentswhowerehappytomajorinthetraditionalliberalarts.Now,toattractmiddle-classstudents,collegeshadtooffermorecareer-focusedmajors,infields

likebusiness,communications,andhealthcare.Asaresult,humanitiesdepartmentshavefoundthemselvesdriftingawayfromthecenteroftheuniversity.Today,theyareoftenregardedasakind
