Onesunnyafternoon,asIwalkedhomefromschool,Inoticedalittleboysittingonthecurb,tearsstreamingdownhisface.Curious,Iapproachedhimandaskedwhatwaswrong.Hesniffledandexplainedthathehadlosthisfavoriteballwhileplayinginthepark.Itwasaspecialgiftfromhisgrandfather,andhewasdevastated.Withouthesitation,Iofferedtohelphimsearchforit.

Together,wewalkedbacktothepark,scanningthegrassandunderbushesforanysignoftheball.Aswesearched,Icouldseetheexcitementandhopeinhiseyes,anditremindedmeofthejoyIfeltwhensomeonehelpedmeinmyowntimesofneed.Afterafewminutes,wefinallyfoundtheballhiddenbeneathabush.Theboy'sfacelitupwithjoyashegrabbedtheballandhuggedittightly.

Helpingothershasalsotaughtmetheimportanceofpatienceandunderstanding.Sometimes,theproblemspeoplefacearemorecomplexthanalostball,andittakestimeandefforttofindsolutions.Butthesatisfactionofseeingsomeone'stroubleseaseandtheirsmilesbroadenismorethanenoughtojustifytheeffort.
