AeshagrewupintheinnercityofRochester,NewYork,wherecrime,gunviolenceandpovertywereamongthe

biggestthreatstothecommunity.Forher,that'snormal.That'sjustlifeintheneighborhood,butwhatsheremembersmost

isthedancestudio.

Shestarteddancingalltogetherattheageoffive.Ateachermentionedtohermotherthatshehadsomepromisein

ballet,andthatitwouldbedifficultforher,asawomanofcolor,toentertheballetworld.Buttheadversity(逆境)she

facedwastheverythingthatpushedhertopursueacareerinballet.
