Chopsticks筷子 It'scommonlyknownthattheChineseinventedchopsticks(orkuaiziinChinese)asasetofinstrumentstobeusedwheneatingbutthereasonbehindthatisnotcommonlyknown.Actually,theChineseweretaughttousechopstickslongbeforespoonsandforkswereinventedinEurope(theknifeisolder,notasaninstrumentfordiningbutasweapon).ChopstickswerestronglyadvocatedbythegreatChinesephilosopherConfucius(551-479BC).Chinesepeople,underthecultivationofConfucianism,considertheknifeandforkbearingsortofviolence,likecoldweapons.However,chopsticksreflectgentlenessandbenevolence,themainmoralteachingofConfucianism.Therefore,instrumentsusedforkillingmustbebannedfromthediningtable,andthatiswhyChinesefoodisalwayschoppedintobitesizebeforeitreachesthetable. EatingChinesefoodwouldnotbeasenjoyableifthewrongutensilswereused.Usingtwoslimandslipperystickstopickupgrainsofriceandlittlepiecesofmeatandvegetablesisactuallynotadifficulttasktoaccomplish.Infact,thereareforeignerswhoareascompetentinusingthechopsticksastheChinese.
