beproudof=takepridein后接讓人引以為榮的對象,為名詞、動詞-ing形式。e.g.Theyoungmotherwasproudthathersonsucceeded.e.g.Theyoungmothertookprideinherson’ssuccess.=Theyoungmotherwasproudofherson’ssuccess.2.Ofcoursesomepeoplelaughed,andIfeltquitesilly.silly是一個無傷大雅,甚至顯得童稚可愛的詞匯,如父母可以說孩子silly,但沒有一個父母會認(rèn)為自己的孩子foolish或stupid。e.g.Yousillychild.你這個傻孩子。(并無貶意)foolish語氣次之,通常形容由于缺乏常識,判斷能力有限而做出不恰當(dāng)?shù)臎Q定。反義詞wise。e.g.Itisfoolishofhertospendsomuchmoneyonhershoes.stupid語氣最強(qiáng)。一般指某人缺乏正常的理解力,智力上有天生的缺陷,所以這是一個貶義詞。e.g.Imadeastupidmistake.【辨析】silly,foolish/stupid都有“蠢“的含義3.Igivethewhiterosetomyteachers,whohavetaughtmethatthereisnosuccesswithouteffort.whohavetaughtmethatthereisnosuccesswithouteffort是一個非限定性定語從句,對前面的先行詞teachers進(jìn)行信息的補(bǔ)充,而不是限定性描述。非限定性定語從句中的關(guān)系代詞不能省略。這個非限定性定語從句中還包含一個賓語從句thatthereisnosuccesswithouteffort,作havetaught的賓語。4.Sheranalongwithme,andshesaid,“Youonlyreallyloseifyougiveup!”giveup意為“放棄”,后接名詞、代詞或動詞-ing形式。后接代詞作賓語時,須將代詞置于give和up之間。e.g.Youshouldgiveupsmoking.Itisbadforyourhealth.e.g.Thereisnohelpforitbutgiveitup. 5.Istillcan’trunfastenough,butI’velearnttotrymybest,notonly

主謂一致原則:notonly…butalso…連接兩個并列主語時,謂語動詞在人稱和數(shù)上要與butalso后的主語保持一致。e.g.NotonlyhebutalsoIaminterestedinpopmusic.不僅是他而且我也對流行音樂感興趣。C.倒裝原則:notonly…butalso...連接兩個并列分句時,notonly置于句首,表示強(qiáng)調(diào),其引導(dǎo)的句子要用部分倒裝,即將謂語動詞的一部分(如情態(tài)動詞、助動詞等)放在主語的前面,而butalso的句子用正常語序。e.g.Notonlydidhemakeapromise,butalsohekeptit.他不僅做出了許諾
