thewholepoetrystartswithamanwentforthwithgifts,soastomakethebasicandfundamentalthemeandmoodinthispoetry.thentheauthorbeginstoexplainhisstatementthroughhisargumentbymaKinggooduseofdifferentmetaphors,bothstatedandimplicitmetaphors. firstly,inMartinLutherKingJr.fromline2to4,eachlineusesstatedmetaphors,andcontributestoprovedifferentkindsofqualitiesthatMartinLutherKingJr.possessesanddifferentfeelingstheauthortowardshim. hewasaprosepoem. hewasatragicgrace. hewasawarmmusic. next,inthefollowingpoetry,theauthorchangestouseanothermetaphor-theimplicitmetaphor.therearetwometaphorsinlines5.thefirstimplicitmetaphorisimpliedbytheverbheal.inoursocietyweusuallytreathealersasdoctors,nurses,andothermedicalpeople.butpeoplewithoutmedicaltrainingcanalsohelptoheal.forexample,friendsorparentscanhelptohealhurtfeelings.sojustlikeahealer,martinlutherkingjr.usuallyhelpedtohealpeopleshurtfeelings.thesecondmetaphorinline5iscontainedinthephrasevividvolcanoes.martinlutherkingjr.,triedtocalmexplosiveandlifethreateningconditionsintheworldtheconditionthatleadtofighting,division,andhatred.thoseconditionsarethevividvolcanoes.however,inline6,theauthorturnstousestatedmetaphoragain.hisashesarereadingtheworld.theashessuggestkingsdeath.theauthorsuggeststhateventhoughhehasdied,hehasbeenwatchinghispeopleandthewholeworld.furthermore,inline10,hispoetry,itmeanshiswords-hisdream-isrememberedandwillbelastforever.thesecondisthecenterofthesun,heremeansthewholeuniverse.sotheauthorconveystheideathatkingsdream-nonviolentlyfightingforfreedom-willbeinherited.thethir(請關(guān)注)disthethousandsandthehundredthousands.herealludethegreatestmajorityofhispeople.line13pointsouttheword,thatsthefamousspeechwhichdeclaredhisgreatdream-fightforhumansjustice.theauthortriestoproveheandhisdreamwillberememberedandhisunfinishedcareerwillbecarriedonbyhispeopleforever.
