Precast concrete manholes shall comply with ASTM C858 except as modified herein. Minimumsize shall be as per drawings. Traffic loads shall conform to loaddesignation A-16 per Table 1. Soil lateral loads shall be as determined by ASTM C857 orloadings specified in the project soils report, whichever is greater. Connections shall consist of a chemically resistant neoprene EPDM flexible boot,locking ring, and pipe clamp(s). The locking ring shall lock the boot into the preformed openingin the manhole. Alternatively, cast the flexible boot in the manhole and eliminate the lockingring. Crushed rock shall be the same material asthe pipe bedding. If rock is not used for the pipe bedding, use 20mm crushed rock for themanhole base. Excavate for the manhole and install a crushed rock base, 300mm thick, per Section 31 23 16.Crushed rock base material shall extend 300mm beyond the outside edge of the concretemanhole base. Set each precast concrete manhole unit plumb on a bed of sealant or mortar to make awatertight joint at least 12.5mm thick with the concrete base or with the preceding unit. Pointthe inside joint and wipe off the excess sealant or mortar. Secure the manhole frame to thegrade ring with grout and cement mortar fillet. In Shoulder Areas: Top of cover shall be flush with existing surface where it is in traveledway or shoulder and 0.3 metres above existing surface where outside limits of traveledway but not in the existing roadside ditch.在路肩區(qū)：在行人路肩區(qū)，井蓋頂部英語現(xiàn)有地表面齊平。在行人路肩界限外但不在現(xiàn)有路溝中，應(yīng)比原有路面高出0.3米。3.03 SEALING AND GROUTING OF MANHOLE SECTIONS人孔井各節(jié)密封和灌漿Clean ends of precast sections of foreign materials. Place two wraps of butyl rubber sealingcompound around the groove of the lower section or place a bed of grout in and completelyaround the groove of the lower section. Set next section in place. Fill remaining interior andexterior joint cavity completely with mortar of the proper consistency. Trowel interior andexterior surfaces smooth on tongue-and-groove joints. Wipe off any excess grout from theinterior and exterior of the joints. Prevent mortar from drying out by applying curing compoundor comparable method. Chip out and replace cracked or defective mortar.
