Unit 7 Its raining!主備人:曲美瞳學(xué)情分析 The students in grade seven are active and eager to act in the class and, it is the time to set the foundation for them. Therefore, the activities in class should be both interesting and educational. The range of the classroom activities should cover most of the students.教材分析 This unit continues to learn the present continuous tense. The topic of this unit is about weather. The function of this unit is aiming to help students to consolidate what they have learned last unit and, to talk about weather in our daily life.教法、學(xué)法: Communicative teaching method, cooperative learning method and independent study教具準(zhǔn)備:power point, pad課型: new lessonThe 1st period (Section A 1a2c)教學(xué)目標(biāo)知識(shí)能力目標(biāo):1. Knowledge objectives: students will be able to understand the words describing weather and, use the sentence pattern to ask and answer about weather.2. Ability objectives: students will be able to talk about weather in real life. They will know how to check the weather in different places through weather forecast.情感態(tài)度價(jià)值觀目標(biāo):3. Affective attitude: students will be able to use the topic in the daily conversation and, they will be aware of the culture difference in different countries. 教學(xué)重難點(diǎn):1. Key points: words about weather, sentence patterns of asking weather2. Difficult points: how to describe the weather in different places and different times and, how to make a weather forecast.教學(xué)過程:1. Warming up: Daily speech: two students tell a story and ask two questions about the story they told. Analyzing teaching aims: one student read and translate the aims of this lesson, which will help them to have a better understanding for the lesson and help them to get ready for the new knowledge.2. Lead-in: Review what they have learned last unit, which is the present continuous tense. 3. Listening drill one:Pre-listening: observe the pictures and describe what people are doing in the pictures.While-listening: play the tape and walk around to see if students will run into problems when listen to the tape.Post-listening: check the answer and make conversations in pairs according to the listening material. The teacher should explain some language points in the tapescripts.And show students a quiz: ask them two questions about the listening. This will lead to the main topic in this lesson, which is weather.4. Presentation of weather: Weather is an important topic in the daily life and conversations. The teacher can explain to the students what is weather and there are many ways to describe weather.Then the teacher shows the students some pictures about weather. The weather can be in the order of season. When explain the words about weather, many methods can be used. Firstly, the teacher can show the students a picture and ask the students hows the weather in the picture, then give them the answer, e.g. Its raining. Its rainy. Then explain the meaning and nature of word rainy and raining. After that, the teacher can ask the students to observe the two words and find out the root of these two words which is rain. Then the teacher can teach the students how to read these words. The students can practice pronounce these words one by one, just to make sure each of them fully grasp these words. Next, the teacher can give an example and call some students to translate. The sentence should include time and place. After explained each words the teacher can write it on the board and draw a little sign of weather. The students can also draw this mind map on their notebook.5. Expansion: Except for the words mentioned in the textbook, the teacher can also tell the students some other words about weather like hazy, haily, thundery, foggy, etc. 6. Practice: The teacher shows some signs of weather on the powepoint and ask them how the weather is in each picture, then randomly point at a picture and ask the students to answer one by one. Then ask the students to turn to page 37 and do the exercise 1a, then check the answers, the students should be able to answer the questions with complete sentences.7. Presentation of cities around the world: The picture in 1a has many cities in it. Therefore the teacher can ask the students to observe the picture and say there are different weather in different cities and there are a lot of cities around the world. Ask them what are the cities they know.The teacher can use the pad and choose some students to write down the city names in the mind map on pad. In the meantime, ask more students. After that, the teacher can show the students a world map. When explain the new worlds of cities, the teacher can point them on the map and tell them where these places are located. Then show the landmark of these cities. After showing each places, the teacher can have a check by asking them which country are these cities in, e.g. Moscow is in Russia. 8. Practice of cities and the weather: The teacher can show some picture of some cities and put a picture of weather on it. Then the teacher can ask them two questions:Where is this place?Hows the weather there? After getting familiar with the pattern, the students can have a conversation like that on their own. The teacher can choose some pairs of students to present. 9. Listening drill two: First ask the students to observe the pictures and predict what they are going to hear. Then play the tape and then check the answer, students should use the complete sentences.10. Expansion: Except these ways of expressing weather, more ways can be used in describing weather. The teacher can show the students a chart of temperature. And explain to them when the temperature is high, then we can say it is hot, when it is not so high, then we can say it is warm. And if the temperature is a little bit low, then we can say it is cool, when the temperature is low we can say it is cold. 11. The weather forecast What the students learnt should be used in the real life. We mainly know about the weather from our phone and from TV. First the teacher can show students a screen shot of the weather report with a picture of this city. The teacher can guide the students to observe the picture and try to express the weather with time and places. E.g. It is rainy on Friday in Moscow, and it is cool. Then ask the students to say it one by one.The teacher should remind the students to pay special attention to “next Monday”. We can not only know the weather from our phone, but also from the television. The teacher can show students a picture of weather forecast. Then play a short video, and provide the students the script. Ask one or two students to read the weather forecast. After that the teacher can give the students another picture of weather forecast, the students can practice ask and answer the weather in the picture.12. Writing: The teacher can give students some examples of the weather forecast and help the students make a short composition of their own.Then choose one or two students to present their composition. The teacher can also take some pictures of those who have good hand writing and show them on the screen.13. Exercise: The teacher can give the students a piece of paper with some exercise and mind map on it. Then ask them to do it and summarize what they have learnt this lesson. Then check the answer together.14. Summary: The teacher can summarize the words about weather and city names, and the sentence structure of asking and describing weather.15. There are successes, there are failures. But all in all, it is an important experience for me to be a better teacher.The process of preparing for the lesson is long but meaningful. Firstly, I blueprinted the lesson plan and had a thoroughly discussion with my English group members. We exchanged the idea of making it an interesting and educational lesson. Then I began to do the preparation work, including search the internet for the related pictures and background knowledge. After the preparation and taking the students condition into consideration, I conducted a trial to see if theres any inappropriate part or any improvement can be made. My group was there for me for the whole time. After the trail, we had a group discussion and, they gave me many suggestions about how to improve this lesson to a new level. The suggestions are mainly about active the students and broaden the covering range of the students. After the revisement and rearrangement, I formally had the lesson. There are some incidents happened during the lesson, such as the network breakdown and the funny mistake students made. But anyway, the lesson is over. The successful part of the lesson can be summarized as the following:First is the design of the PPT, it took me a lot of time to do the preparing work. The topic of this lesson is weather. Therefore I searched for the gif pictures to help present the new words. The signs of the weather also help the students to identify weather in the real life. The design of the brainstorming can involve as much students in the class. The cities around the world can provide them knowledge of the world. The weather report can relate the lesson to life. The procedure of the lesson includes listening, speaking, reading and writing. The chain question of asking about weather covered all the students in the class. They can learn knowledge as well as participate in the class. There are also some pities in this lesson:First is the blackboard writing, it is not so clear for some students to identify. The writing on the blackboard should be clear and in good logic. The students should be able to recall what they have learnt according to the contents in the blackboard.Second is the classroom regulation. The performances of some students are not so formal, they were not standing straight, the sounds of their voices are not loud enough. This might resulted in their lacking of confidence. Therefore I should pay more attention to encouraging them and improve their sense of self-esteem.Third is the teachers behavior. I should think about what I should do while the students listening to the tape. In this class, I wasnt pay enough attention to what they are doing, which I should. It is important for teachers to observe the way students do the liste
