13、yle RestaurantIt is common practice to use a clean plate every time you go to get more food from the buffetIt is good practice to make more trips and get smaller servings of food. There is usually no limit to the amount of times you can visit the buffet.It is considered impolite, and a waste, to get
14、 more food than you can eat and leave it at the table. Many restaurants will charge a customer an extra fee if this is done.13ETIQUETTE (Eating and Drinking)Drinking alcoholDrink alcohol in moderation. Getting drunk is not clever! Water and fruit juice are healthy alternatives. Dont assume everyone
15、drinks alcohol many dont. Drinking has its own peculiar cultural traditions. In some countries (e.g. Middle East) alcohol is banned and th

Wash your hands.Wipe the sink after use.If more soap or toilet paper or paper towels are needed get them straight away, dont let the next person find out too late!The toilet is not a place of rest use it and leave it.International Code of Basic Social Behavior 18ETIQUETTE (Smoking) Now general
21、ly regarded as anti-social. A major source of serious ill-health. Fewer people smoke than do not smoke. Passive (second-hand) smoking kills. In most countries now there are strictly controlled places for smoking. Look out for No Smoking signs. Obey them. Smoking while eating and while others are eat
22、ing is regarded as extremely offensive! Dispose of cigarette ends carefully and hygienically.International Code of Basic Social Behavior 19SMOKING Smokers effectively fund the health service by paying tax on the tobacco. Therefore, if anything, we should encourage smoking. Smoking protects against s
23、ome illnesses. Smoking is not illegal. I have a right to smoke wherever I want. Smoking is an important social activity in my culture. 24、 EVER! Destroys self-respect. Destroys the environment. Demonstrates what you think of your village, town, city, country. Extremely offensive in some countries and is a criminal offence ($1000 penalty). International Code of Basic Social Behavior 21ETIQUETTE (Swearing) Offensive most of the time. Be
25、 aware of where you are and who is listening. Do not swear at people senior to you in any language. Try to think of a non-offensive word to use for when you accidentally hurt yourself. 26、. Await your turn. Dont crowd the person in front of you (airport, bank, post office). Help oth
27、ers a stranger is only a friend you havent met yet. Let people out of elevators before getting in. Arrive on time (beforehand) for scheduled events. Treat public areas as an extension of your home. Do not disturb your fellow passengers. Try to tune in to the behavior of those around you keep your ey
28、es and ears open and learn. NEVER DO OR SAY ANYTHING THAT MIGHT BE MISINTERPRETED AS A SECURITY HAZARD.
