1、Impression after reading THE STORY OF MY LIFETHE STORY OF MY LIFE was written by Helen Keller who was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama.At 19 months old an acute illness nearly took her life and left her deaf and blind. At the recommendation of Alexander Graham Bell, her parents contacted

2、 the Perkins Institute for the Blind in Boston, and Anne Sullivan was sent to tutor Helen.THE STORY OF MY LIFE told that the story of their early years together, and Helens remarkable psychological and intellectual growth. The book was first appeared in installments in Ladies Home Journal in 1902.Wi

3、th teacher Anne Sullivan at her side, Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe College in 1904,an extraordinary accomplishment for any woman of her time.Helen was dedicated to helping the blind in thirty states. A womens rights activist, a Swedenborg Ian, a socialist, and a world-famous celebrity, Hele

4、n Keller received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and many honorary degrees. Her burial urn was in the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C.Helen Keller dedicated THE STORY OF MY LIFE to Alexander Grantham Bell who has taught the deaf to speak and enabled the listening ear to hear speech from th

5、e Atlantic to the Rockies.In the book, she had written many letters to the people who have helped her and given her a deep impression and influence, such as Miss Caroline Derby, Mrs. George H. Bradford, Mrs. Laurence Huttonand many more.At the beginning of the book Helen said: It is a kind of fear t

6、hat I begin to write the history of my life. I have, as it were, a superstitious hesitation in lifting the veil that clings about my childhood like a golden mist. When I try to classify my earliest impressions, I find that fact and fancy look alike across the years that link the past with the presen

Beyond there is light, and music, and sweet companionship; but she may not enter. Fain would she question his imperious decree; for her heart is still undisciplined and passio

9、nate; but her tongue will not utter the bitter, futile words that rise to her lips, and they fall back into her heart like unshed tears. Silence sits immense upon her soul. Then comes hope with a smile and whispers, “There is joy in self-forgetfulness.” So she try to make the light in others eyes he
