1、Unit 1More Than WordsIn-Class ReadingCommunication Without Words不用話語(yǔ)的交流1 當(dāng)你學(xué)一門(mén)外語(yǔ)時(shí),你要學(xué)的不僅僅是詞匯和語(yǔ)法。要想成功地進(jìn)行交談,你還必須學(xué)習(xí)該種文化的非言語(yǔ)性語(yǔ)言, 或者說(shuō)“肢體語(yǔ)言”。 “肢體語(yǔ)言”是用來(lái)描述那些可以傳遞信息的臉部表情、 手勢(shì)以及其他身體動(dòng)作的術(shù)語(yǔ)。 這種交流方法非常重要, 實(shí)際上我們用動(dòng)作表達(dá)的信息比用言語(yǔ)表達(dá)的信息還要多。2 有時(shí)候我們發(fā)現(xiàn)說(shuō)一門(mén)外語(yǔ)很困難,因?yàn)槲覀兛赡懿涣私饬硪环N文化的非言語(yǔ)信號(hào),或者說(shuō)那些信號(hào)在我們自己文化中的含義可能迥然不同。例如,在世界上不同的地方,上下點(diǎn)頭就傳遞不

2、同的信息。在北美,該動(dòng)作表示“我同意”。在中東,向下點(diǎn)頭表示“我同意”,而向上抬頭表示“我不同意”。日本人談話的時(shí)候這個(gè)動(dòng)作通常只是表示“我正在聽(tīng)”。一位在美國(guó)的日本學(xué)生好不容易才了解了其中的差異。在和一位推銷員說(shuō)話的時(shí)候,這位學(xué)生禮貌性地點(diǎn)頭,表示他在注意聽(tīng)著。結(jié)果,第二天那位推銷員就將一臺(tái)嶄新的洗衣機(jī)送到了他的公寓。3 目光接觸所表達(dá)的含義也很豐富,但是,在不同的文化中,它表達(dá)的意思也不同。在一些講西班牙語(yǔ)的國(guó)家,孩子們?cè)谂c年長(zhǎng)者談話時(shí)不直視對(duì)方的眼睛,以表示尊重。而在其他國(guó)家,別人則期待你看著他的眼睛。例如,如果你在美國(guó)不這么做的話,人們會(huì)以為你害怕、尷尬或者生氣了。4世界上很多地方都用
