In order to make the multimedia plays a more important role in teaching, the article discusses the problems and solutions existing in multimedia teaching. At the

4、same time, to handle the teacher-media-student relationship well in modern English teaching and adhere to the leading role of traditional teaching model. This essay also advocates to realize the importance of the courseware design in English teaching and the significance of multimedia teaching. Key

The multimedia teaching significanceWith the continuous development of modern technology, multimedia is applied to teaching more and more widely. This is of special significance to English tea

And the multimedia technology will greatly improves the way of study and working. 1.1 Multimedia technology can arouse the enthusiasm and develop creative thinking of the students.Students respond to information differently and actively. Thus, it is often to our advantage as teachers to use m

8、any different formats and modes to teach the subject matter of a lesson. This is why teachers normally use some combination of lecture, text and hands-on laboratory for conveying information. A CAI courseware with complete function is an organic combination with cartoon, pictures, and words. A CAI c

9、ourseware is a process to draw the students to join in the study using advanced media, changing abstraction into images, so as to add to the interest and believability of the process. Using multimedia is to convey information quickly and effectively to all students and keep them interested in learni

Therefore, the application of multimedia technology to start the potential of students, educators in the new century is an important task.1.2 Application of multi-media technology in classroom teaching has broken the old teaching style and it widens the thought and field of vision of students. 11、ith the advent of the multimedia technology and the multiple formats that can be communicated over the World Wide Web. Multimedia technology is a new and exciting way to present information. The multimedia technology allows the incorporation of animation, moving pictures, and sound into lessons, whi

12、ch extends teachers abilities to present materials that encourage student interaction with the subject matter. Pictures and animations can help students easy to promote the imaginable memory and multimedia allows students to take a more active role in learning. Students can travel back to the travel

13、 in the class and could know more about nature. Multimedia technology makes students know more about the world. It is another gold key to open the knowledge treasure-house.1.3 Multimedia technologies can help found the vivid, interesting teaching situation. English teaching is different form others

14、subject. The English teaching aims is to improve students ability to understand and apply the correct language level. "We can not really teach one kind of language to the students, we can only create one for their language learning environment" (SPCorde). Suhomlinski thought that "cul

15、ture is to promote student interest in learning activities in a complex understanding of an important driving force." Educational psychology research indicates that interest from curiosity. We can use the computer multimedia technology, by contacting the production, real life, choose life, with

16、 examples of characteristics of the times, illustrated, vividly create beautiful situation, and ensure that materials intended to enable students to place in them to stimulate them to learn English knowledge, interest and trigger their thinking; easy to stimulate their visual and auditory organs, gi

17、ving them a fresh surprise, and cause their positive response and help to teach for a long time to keep learning attention. This unconsciously learned these words, and naturally so that students learning English and into the scenario being greatly stimulated their interest in learning for learning t

18、he content behind the foundation. The students are very strong desire to explore new knowledge, and actively start a new knowledge. If such use of the long run, multimedia for its sense of realism and fun to stimulate student thinking and the thinking of students also will be smooth.1.4 The use of m

19、ultimedia, to increase the density of teaching, and improve teaching efficiency. Can be done using computer multimedia technology to teach the knowledge of high-density, large amount of information optimization, greatly improve the efficiency of the classroom. Graphic is not the language, but more i

20、ntuitive and image than the language, the amount of information than the more inclusive language. Animated graphics more advanced than the use of flashing text, image scaling and moving, color change means not only larger, faster, and better results, increasing the density of teaching, improve teach

All in all, English teaching, if we can reasonably timely use of computer multimedia teaching system, the creation of situations to learn English, English language teaching to solve teaching problems and other related audio-visual, audio-visual perception of the students through the

22、English language material, developing English skills. But at the same time fully play the leading role of teachers; students play the subjectivity and creativity in order to guide students in quantity and high quality listening, speaking, reading and writing training to students in the classroom wit

23、h limited access to basic knowledge of English.2. Teacher play an important role in the Multimedia ApplicationsBefore using Multimedia, teacher only takes advantage of chalks, their body languages and mouths. Scientific and technological advances are enabling teacher to make classes more vivid and a

24、ctive and diversify the teaching. But when multimedia is in use, there are still have same bad issues. Instead of enhancing classroom result, students cant benefit from the using of multimedia. I will show same cases to explain how to improve the use value of multimediaSome teachers reprint the text

25、book when design multimedia courseware, without according to the thinking theory. The teacher simply shows the courses and does not take advantage of the experience about writing on the blackboard or other teaching methods. That would be unwise. If the courses are being used most of the class time,

26、some knowledge the students got to know just in passing, it cant be impressive. Teachers should sure their leading roles in the classroom and combine multimedia with other teaching methods. Such as the teacher can show a beautiful picture and make a lively speech, or act. At this time, the course ca

27、n be an effort to impress.Some teachers like to show a number of text courseware in class. That is on longer considered to be desirable. There are same classes focuses on basic theoretical knowledge about vocabulary and grammar in English, the teachers must know the principle of “come from the textb

28、ooks, easier than the textbooks”. Reduce text courseware. Because the teacher would analyze the problems less than before that he didnt use the text courseware. So teachers must use text courseware properly.Some teachers made the content into form of multi-media courseware while they write the same

29、content on the blackboard. In the class, the teacher explains the courseware firstly then writes the same thing on the blackboard. It is a way of wasting time .the teacher does not make good use of the class time. The students would loss interest in class if listen the same contents twice in one cla

30、ss. The teacher should chose the main content making them into courseware. If he wants to add something which can be wrote on the blackboard.Some teachers put some simple things in the courseware, such as a simple picture or a sheet. Maybe it is convenient for the teacher but it lead to that the stu

31、dents dont have the chance to interact with the teacher. Teachers can draw a simple picture on the blackboard by themselves or ask the students to do it. At the same time it cant reflect the value of multimedia.Above all what are the most common problems met in the use of courseware. Teacher should

32、pay attention to these issues. Added to these problems is that teachers themselves should fully understand the contents that they teach, grasp the technique to make multimedia courseware, merging ones own idea into the slides properly. Below is the way how the teachers improve their software product

33、ion.Teacher can control the method of making flash and choose the suitable flash materials to create the multi-media courseware can make the courseware more active, novel, imaginable and attractive.Teachers can search for network education resources; the network courseware can inspire you. There are

34、 so many experienced teachers show their courseware in the resource library. Green hands can benefit from this wonderful courseware. But the teachers can not completely copy them. The teacher must design a personal style of courseware.The experts say teachers must be trained to use the added time ef

35、fectively. Professional development is needed. Enhance the teachers modern information technology accomplishment, especially computer software applying on English education. Attend teacher meetings and teacher training.3. The design of multimedia courseware is the key link affecting the courseware q

36、uality and teaching resultsCourseware design is a systematic approach to gather, analyze, design and interpret the information content for a particular topic in a specified manner. It involves study of the background of the students, for whom it is intended for, the length and time limits, syllabus

37、identification, content presentation etc. According to the different teaching purposes, design different styles of courseware.3.1 The design of courseware about teaching vocabularyUsing courseware shows some pictures which is easy to promote the imaginable memory. The students will be fascinated by

38、these colorful and interesting pictures. So the teacher must pay great attention to the choice of pictures. The students understand what to learn when they have a look at the picture. So the picture very can highlight key. For example, teaching the word “apple”, the teacher show a picture of a red b

39、ig apple, the students will know they should learn the apple. If the teacher shows a picture of an apple and a pear, the students will confuse what to learn. Game is an important element in childhood. It is the best way to development abilities of children. Make use of the multi-media teaching techn

40、ique to design same games. 3.2 The courseware about speakingSpeaking is an important part of everyday interaction and most often the first impression of a person is based on his/her ability to speak fluently and comprehensively. So, as teachers, we have a responsibility to prepare the students langu

41、age development. Create life-like situation to train students speaking abilities. Such as use multi-media to simulate the noise of a zoo, eliciting new lesson. The teacher should choose some pictures more life-oriented 3.3 Active classroom atmosphere For a long time, it is too much attention to

42、 teachers imparting knowledge and neglect of active classroom atmosphere. Some classes are quite boring ,for example some of the articles not about story. At this time, the courseware what you are trying to achieve the goal is that archive classroom atmosphere and mobilize students' emotions. Yo

43、u can insert some funny cartoon characters and a bit of background music fierce. Your aim is not to give information to the students, just to stimulate their brain cells. 3.4 Expounds the lectureWhen you use text presents the teaching contents, you can add commentary and downy background music, stud

We should pay attention to that we cannot choose some familiar music with the students or too simple music melody as background music .Because student will easily transfer attention. In addition, pictures and sounds are out of synchronization, coordination and mutual influence, but

Can show students the movie cast way. This vivid explanation way can let students have more extensive sp

46、ace to think about the importance of friendship and existence value. 3.6 ExercisesThe color of the background should be light. The teacher had better not appear a few tricks. Such as a lovely monkey jump out. It would be best that the pictures are quiet. Because students must calm down to think abou

48、me should be controlled in 15 minutes. 3.7 Tips for the teachers Sometimes the teacher uses PowerPoint, flash or Authorware and other soft wares to design some teaching materials. But if the material bears longtime and vast amount content, the teacher will spend much time and vitality in making it.

49、It will influence the teachers initiative of using CAI. And also during a long-time watching, the students will arouse visual fatigue and psychological fatigue. So here are some tips for the teachers who use multimedia which will bring them some inspirations in English teaching.Diminish cognitive ov

50、erload by making multimedia simple and consistent with design of text and instructional design. Don't be distracting with unnecessary elements. Use multimedia to reinforce learning. Use multimedia to cue the learner to important concepts and to catch attention. Use colors appropriately and attra

51、ctively. For example, orange arouses attention while blue signals a non-threatening environment. However, these color rules can be quite different for learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. Use multimedia to convey information. Do not use it as an art piece. Keep animation size as small as poss

52、ible and don't use it repetitively. Use multimedia for "dual encoding." It is an effective means of instruction through repetition.4. How to deal with the problems appears in the application process of the multimedia courseware. The application of multimedia in primary English teaching

53、 is in the stage of groping period, so there are no sufficient experiences to follow. Many problems appear in the process of using multimedia to assist primary English teaching. These problems can be summarized as follow.4.1 With computers as the center, a key to set the tide of battleWhen some teac

54、hers use multimedia courseware, they always design the courseware into sequence structure to avoid making mistakes. During class, just press a button, the courseware will sequentially play. Once the teacher in computer operation time according to the wrong keys, the computer will play “montage” the
