5、ionA vacuum oil purification system is provided suitable for continuous treatment of oil storedhemain oil. The nesity of oil treatment is based on operating experience anlysis. Thereliability of the lube oil system and life of system components and lubricating oil is extended by the removal of parti
6、cle contaminants and water. The lubricating oil system is provided with in-line filters which remove particle contaminants whilst the lubricating oil system is in operation. However, thein-line filters cannot remove water from the oil.Water in a lubricating system reduthe oil viscosity and dynamic o
7、il film thickness. Water alsocauses oil oxidation and the precipiion of oil additives to form acids, stable emuls and sludge.These clog clearan, coat component and heat exchanger surfa, plug filters and furtheraccelerate wear. Water also leads to corroof system components.Water in lube oil takes two
8、 forms:dissolved water (up to the oil saturation limit), andfree water (above the oil saturation limit).Lube oil is saturated when it contains all the dissolved water it can hold. This is a function of thetemperature of the oil.Any increase in water above this poresults in free water dropletspendedh
9、e oil. Thesedroplets tend to colleclow poshe lube oil system. The vacuumhe veismaained by a vacuum pump(ECS: GTH9311 PO; KKS: MAV93AP
11、011). Vevacuum iscontrolled by a vacuum trim valve (ECS: GTH9312VH; KKS: MAV93BP012), which is used tooptimize the vacuum level on the unit. Ambient air is drawno the vethrough the vacuum trimvalve and an air filter (ECS: GTH9312KI; KKS: MAV93AT012) to avoid carry over of air borneparticleso the sys
12、tem. The air enters the vacuum veat the bottom. Because of the vacuum theair volume expands up to about 5 times the normal volume sot the relative humidity decreases toapproximay 1/5 of the normal value. Fluid entering the vacuum veis dispersed over a largesurface area. Water vapour and gases are re
13、moved from the oil by the upwards streaming air flowwith the resultt the oil is dried. The wet air is then exhausted via an oil mist separator (ECS:GTH9311 FF; KKS: MAV93AT011) and the vacuum pump to atmosphere. Oil from the mistseparator is dischargedo the vacuum veMAV93BN012).by means of an air je
14、t (ECS: GTH9312VA; KKS:The clean treatel is pumped out of the vacuum veby aitive displacement pump (ECS:GTH9301 PO; KKS: MAV93AP001) through a fine particle filter (ECS: GTH9321FF; KKS:MAV93AT021) and returned to the lube oil reservoir. The oil purification system can be operatedcontinuously, independent of the operation of the lube oil sys
