Abstract:Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheeffectofearlyelectro-acupunctureontheexpressionofsynaptophysinandPSD-95indifferentbrainregionsofSAMP8mice.SixteenSAMP8micewererandomlydividedintoexperimentalandcontrolgroups,withtheexperimentalgroupreceivingearlyelectro-acupuncturetreatmentandthecontrolgroupreceivingnotreatment.ImmunofluorescencewasusedtodetecttheexpressionofsynaptophysinandPSD-95inthebraintissueoftheexperimentalandcontrolgroups.Theresultsshowedthatearlyelectro-acupuncturehadasignificanteffectontheexpressionofsynaptophysinandPSD-95inthehippocampusandprefrontalcortexofSAMP8mice.TheexpressionlevelsofsynaptophysinandPSD-95inthehippocampusandprefrontalcortexoftheexperimentalgroupweresignificantlyhigherthanthoseinthecontrolgroup.Basedontheseresults,itcanbeconcludedthatearlyelectro-acupuncturehasasignificanteffectontheexpressionofsynaptophysinandPSD-95inthehippocampusandprefrontalcortexofSAMP8mice,andmaybecomeanewtreatmentforimprovingage-relatedcognitiveimpairmentandtreatingseniledementia.

However,likeanymedicalintervention,electro-acupuncturecarriessomepotentialrisksandsideeffects.Whileelectro-acupunctureisgenerallysafe,therehavebeenreportsofadverseeventssuchasnervedamage,burns,andhematomaformation.Patientswithcertainmedicalconditions,suchaspacemakeruse,bleedingdisorders,orseizuredisorders,maybeatincreasedriskforcomplicationswithelectro-acupuncture.Thus,itisimportanttoconsultwithaqualifiedpractitionerandinformthemofanyunderlyinghealthconditionsbeforetryingelectro-acupuncture.
