Thesecondobjectionisthattheindustrydependsonanaive(天真的)viewofthepowerofreputation:that
companieswithpositivereputationswillfinditeasiertoattractcustomersandsurvivecrises.It'snothardtothink
ofcounter-examples.Tobaccocompaniesmakevastprofitsdespitetheirawfulreputations.Everybodystrongly
criticizesRyanairforitsbadserviceandtheDailyMailforitsmean-spiritedjournalism.Butbothfirmsarehighly
successful.
Thebiggestproblemwiththereputationindustry,however,isthatthewaytodealwithpotentialthreatsto
yourreputationistoworkharderatmanagingyourreputation.Theoppositeismorelikely:thebeststrategymaybe
