cheerfulnessoramusement.However,BehavioralEcologyTheorysuggeststhatallsmilesare

toolsusedinsocialinteractions,meaningcheerfulnessisneithernecessarynorrichforsmiling.

OurstudyshowedthatintheseHuman-ComputerInteractionexperiments,smilingisn'tdriven

Dr.MarkBrowneinSantaBarbara,California,hasbeenstudyingplasticpollutionand

microfibersfor10years.Heexplainsthateverytimesynthetic(合成的)clothesgointoa

washingmachine,alargenumberofplasticfibersfalloff.Mostwashingmachinescan'tcollect

thesemicrofibers.Soeverytimethewatergetsoutofawashingmachine,microfibersenter

In2011,Brownewroteapaperstatingthatasinglepieceofsyntheticclothingcanproduce

morethan1,900fibersperwash.Brownecollectedsamplesfromseawaterandfreshwatersites

singlewatersamplecontainedmicrofibers.

Thisisbadnewsforanumberofreasons.Plasticcancauseharmtosealifewheneaten.
