Introduction

Thepurposeofthisprojectistohelpstudentsdeveloptheirlanguageskillsbycreatingaholidayalbum.Inthisproject,studentswillusetheirimaginationtocreateafictionalholidayalbum,writeabouttheplacesandattractionstheyvisited,andsharetheirexperienceswiththeclass.Thisprojectisdesignedforsixth-gradestudentsinthefirstperiodofthe2022-2023schoolyear.

Writeaboutplacesandattractionsvisitedduringtheirimaginaryholiday.

Procedure

Introduction

Introducethetopicofholidayalbums,explainingthattheyarebooksthatpeoplefillwithpicturesanddescriptionsoftheirtravels.

Showstudentssomeexamplesofholidayalbums,pointingouthowtheyareorganizedandwhattheyinclude.

Explainthattheywillbecreatingtheirownfictionalholidayalbumsthatdescribetheirimaginaryvacations.

Brainstorming

Havestudentsbrainstormideasfortheirholidayalbums,encouragingthemtothinkofinterestinganduniquethemes.

Providepromptssuchas:Wheredidyougo?Whatdidyoudo?Whodidyougowith?

Havestudentswritedowntheirideasintheirnotebooksoronloose-leafpaper.

Research

Allowstudentstousetheinternetorotherresourcestoresearchtheplacestheywanttoincludeintheirholidayalbum.

Encouragethemtofindinterestingfactsandstoriesabouttheplacestheywanttoinclude.

Writing

Havestudentswriteabouttheplacestheyvisited,includingtheattractionsandexperiencestheyhad.

Encouragethemtousedescriptivelanguagetopaintapictureoftheirtravelsfortheirreaders.

Havestudentsreviseandedittheirwritingforclarityandgrammar.

Sharing

Allowstudentstosharetheirholidayalbumswiththeclass,eitherbyreadingthemaloudordisplayingthemfortheirclassmatestosee.

Encouragestudentstoaskquestionsandgivefeedbackoneachother’swork.

Assessment

Studentscanbeassessedontheirparticipationinthebrainstormingprocess,thequalityoftheirwriting,theiruseofdescriptivelanguage,andtheirabilitytosharetheirworkwiththeclass.Rubricscanbecreatedtoprovidestudentswithclearexpectationsforwhatisrequiredforthisproject.

Conclusion

Bycompletingthisproject,studentswillhavedevelopedtheirwritingandcommunicationskillswhilealsogainingabetterunderstandingoftheplanningandor
