下面是一個假想的化合物,說明具有電化學活性的各種官能團。具有電化學活性的化合物是芳香族化合物,或含有羥基,甲氧基或胺等官能團。脂肪族化合物,如硫醇(類)和胺類也具有電化學活性。某些化合物例如:碳水化合物,需要特殊的檢測方式,稱之為脈沖安培檢測法或簡稱PAD.
