過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)用法小結(jié)一般情況下,形容詞常常在句中作定語(yǔ),但是在模塊3中我們卻多看到下面的情況:Wesawabandonedfarmswhichweremorethanahundredyearsago.Trainedcamelscarriedfoodandothersupplies.上面例子中出現(xiàn)的過(guò)去分詞均在句中作定語(yǔ),過(guò)去分詞是非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞的一種形式,可在句中作定語(yǔ)修飾名詞。本期“攻克要點(diǎn)”我們就幫大家一起來(lái)歸納總結(jié)一下過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)的情況。1.過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)時(shí)的位置單個(gè)的過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)時(shí),一般將其放在被修飾詞之前,有時(shí)單個(gè)的過(guò)去分詞也可以作后置定語(yǔ),用以強(qiáng)調(diào)動(dòng)作。如:Theyneededmuchmorequalifiedteachers.Wedecidedtochangethematerialused.過(guò)去分詞短語(yǔ)作定語(yǔ)要放在被修飾詞的后面,作后置定語(yǔ),其作用相當(dāng)于一個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句。如:Thegirldressedinredismysister.(=Thegirlwhoisdressedinredismysister.)Isthereanythingplannedfortonight?(=Isthereanythingthathasbeenplannedfortonight?)2.過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)所表達(dá)的意義:過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)表示動(dòng)作在謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)作之前發(fā)生,已經(jīng)完成并且與被修飾詞之間是邏輯上的動(dòng)詞關(guān)系,具有被動(dòng)意義。作定語(yǔ)的過(guò)去分詞由及物動(dòng)詞變化而來(lái)。如:Thebookwrittenbythisyoungmanwasagreatsuccess./HaveyoufinishedtheexercisesgivenbyprofessorLi?
注意:由于不及物動(dòng)詞后不可以直接跟賓語(yǔ),所以不及物動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)只表示動(dòng)作的完成,而沒(méi)有被動(dòng)的意義。如:Mygrandmaiscleaningthefallenleavesintheyard.
3.現(xiàn)在分詞作定語(yǔ)和過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)的區(qū)別現(xiàn)在分詞作定語(yǔ)時(shí),它與被修飾詞之間是主謂關(guān)系,即被修飾詞是分詞動(dòng)作的執(zhí)行者。分詞所表示的時(shí)間一般應(yīng)與句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞所表示的時(shí)間相同,但當(dāng)現(xiàn)在分詞表示經(jīng)常性或瞬間動(dòng)作的時(shí)候,二者所表示的時(shí)間應(yīng)相同。如:ThegirlsittingatthedeskisgoodatEnglish.(=ThegirlwhoissittingatthedeskisgoodatEnglish.)Helivesinaroomfacingthesouth.(=Helivesinaroomthatfacesthesouth.)
