“standard.ThermocoupleAthermocoupleconsistsoftwoelectricalconductorsmadeofdifferentmetalsthatarejoinedatoneend.Noteparticularlythattwojunctionsarealwaysrequired.Ingeneral,onesensethedesiredorunknowntemperature;thisoneweshallcallthehotormeasuringjunction.Thesecondwillusuallybemaintainedataknownfixedtemperature;thisoneweshallrefertoasthecoldorrefereneejunction.Whenthetwojunctionsareatdifferenttemperatures,avoltageisdevelopedacrossthejunction.BimetallicstripthermometerTwodissimilarmetalsarebondedtogetherintowhatiscalledabimetallicstrip.Sineetwometalshavedifferentcoefficientofthermalexpansion,onemetalwillexpandsmorethandoesanothermetalastemperatureincreases,causingthebimetallicstriptocurlupwardsassketched.RTDAresistaneetemperaturedetectorisbasicallyeitheralong,smalldiametermetalwirewoundinacoiloranetchedgridonasubstrate,muchlikeastraingage.Theresistaneeof
