Intheeighteenthandnineteenthcenturies,childlaborwasusedthroughouttheworld,particularlyinindustrializingcountries.Britainwasthefirstcountrytobeindustrialized.Childlabortherewasprimarilyusedinthetextileindustry.TheU.S.borrowedmanyideasfromtheBritishduringtheIndustrialRevolution.InBritain,thefirstruraltextilemillswerebuilt,andchildrenwereamajorpartoftheworkforce.ManchesterandLancashirewerethefirsttownstoestablishafactorysystem.
