Summers'comments.Theproblemwithtryingtoarguethatthe

maletendencytosystemizemightleadtogreatermathematical

abilityisthat,infact,girlsandboysareequallygoodat

mathspriortoteenageyears.Untilrecently,itwasbelieved

thatmalesoutperformedfemalesinmathematicsatallages.

Today,thatpicturehaschanged,anditappearsthatmalesand

femalesofanyageareequallygoodatcomputationandat

understandingmathematicalconcepts.However,aftertheir
