emotionallyintelligentdoesnotnecessarilymakeoneamoralperson.
Althoughpopularbeliefsregardingemotionalintelligencerunfaraheadofwhat
researchcanreasonablysupporttheoveralleffectsofthepublicityhavebeen
morebeneficialthanharmful.Themostpositiveaspectofthispopularizationisa
newandmuchneededemphasis(重視)onemotionbyemployers,educatorsand
othersinterestedinpromotingsocialwell-being.Thepopularizationofemotional
intelligencehashelpedboththepublicandresearchersre-evaluatethe
functionalityofemotionsandhowtheyservepeopleadaptivelyineverydaylife.
Althoughthecontinuingpopularappealofemotionalintelligenceisdesirable,we
hopethatsuchattentionwillexciteagreaterinterestinthescientificandscholarly
studyofemotion.Itisourhopethatincomingdecades,advancesinsciencewill
