I.AnalysisoftheNewCurriculumStandardsTheme

Thethemeofthisunitfocusesonmusicpreferences,whichisrelatedtothethemesof"SelfandOthers"and"PeopleandSociety"intheNewCurriculumStandards.Throughdiscussionsonmusicpreferences,studentscanunderstandthemusicaltastesofdifferentpeople,respectothers'choices,andexpressthemselvesinmunication,improvingcrossculturalmunicationawarenessandskills.

II.CoreLiteracyGoals

(I)LanguageSkills

Studentsareabletolistentoanddistinguishstatementsaboutmusicpreferences,suchaspreferencesfordifferentsingersandmusicgenres.

(I)Leadin(3minutes)

Playanaudioclipcontainingdifferenttypesofmusic,suchaspop,rock,andelectronicmusic,andaskstudentsabouttheirfeelingstowardsthesemusicgenres,leadingtothethemeofthislessonmusicpreferences.

(II)ListeningExercises(12minutes)

1.BeforeListening

Guidestudentstoquicklyskimthesentencesin2atofamiliarizethemselveswiththecontentandpredictthekeypointsoflistening.

2.WhileListening

Playthelisteningmaterial,andstudentspletetheTrue/False(T/F)exercisesin2a.

Playthelisteningmaterialagain,andstudentspletethesentencefillingexercisesin2b.

3.AfterListening

Checktheanswerswiththestudents,andreplayandexplainthequestionswithmoreerrors.

GuidestudentstoreadthesentencesofCarmenandXuFei,payingattentiontointonation.

(III)ExplanationofLanguageKnowledge(10minutes)

Explainthekeyvocabularyandsentencepatternsappearingin2aand2b,suchastheusageofattributiveclauseslike"musicianswho..."and"groupsthat...".

2.

Throughexamplesandsimpleexercises,letstudentsfurtherunderstandandmastertheselanguageknowledge.

(IV)DialoguePractice(10minutes)

1.

Letstudentsreadthedialogueexamplesin2ctounderstandthedialoguesituationandcontent.

2.

Studentsworkinpairs.Basedontheinformationin2aand2b,theyimitatetheexamplestopracticedialogues,withonestudentplayingCarmenandtheotherplayingXuFei.

3.

Inviteseveralpairsofstudentstoetothefronttoperformthedialoguesandgivetimelyfeedbackandevaluation.

(V)Roleplaying(10minutes)

1.

Studentsaregroupedandreadthedialoguesituationsin2d.

2.

Studentsconductroleplayingaccordingtotheirownideasandpreferences,discussingmusicandmoviechoicesinweekendactivities.

3.

Whilestudentsareroleplaying,theteacherpatrolsandprovidesnecessaryhelpandguidance.

4.

Aftereachgroup'sperformance,studentsfromothergroupscangiveevaluations,andtheteachersummarizestheevaluationsandmakesimprovementsuggestions.

(VI)SummaryandHomework(5minutes)

1.

Summarizethekeyvocabulary,sentencepatterns,andlanguageknowledgelearnedinthisclass,emphasizingtheapplicationofattributiveclausesinexpressingpreferences.

2.

Assignhomework:AskstudentstointerviewtheirfamilymembersorfriendsabouttheirmusicpreferencesinEnglishandrecordthem,andsharetheminthenextclass.
