Every time smebdy buys mvie tickets, rDVDs, rdistributin rights t a film, sme f that mney ges back t thelcal ecnmy right here.And believe it r nt,entertainment is part f ur American diplmacy. Its part f whatmakes us eceptinal, par

We have shaped a wrld culture thrugh yu.And the stries that we telltransmit values and ideals abut tlerance and diversity andvercmingadversity, and creativity that are part f ur DNA. Five years later, America has largely fughturway back. Weve made the tughchices required nt just t help the ecnmy recver, but trebuild it

21、n anew fundatin fr strnger, mre durable ecnmic grwth.We refcused n manufacturing andeprts, and tday, ur businesses sell mre gds andservices made in thiscuntry t the rest f the wrld than ever befre. ur manufacturers areadding jbs fr thefirst time since the 1990s, led by an American aut industry thats

22、cmeraring back. American cars are reallygd nw. (Laughter.)We decided t reverse urdependence n freign il. S tday, wegenerate mre renewableenergy than ever - dubled ur renewable energy -mre natural gas than anybdy. Fr thefirsttime in nearly 20 years, America nw prduces mre f ur wn il than webuy frm th

23、ercuntries. Its gdnews. (Applause.)When I tk ffice, Americainvested far less than cuntries like China did in wirelessinfrastructure andweve nw narrwed that gap, and wpanies unleash jbsandinnvatin and becme a bming app ecnmy thats created hundreds fthusands fjbs. Si years ag, nly 5percent f the wrlds

24、 smartphnes ran n American peratingsre than 80 percent d. (Applause.)And, yes, we decided t fi abrken health care system. (Applause.) And its interesting- Iwas talking t sme f the studi eecs here, and I said, lk, therllut f the new health caremarketplace was rugh and nbdy was mrefrustrated abut the

25、prblems with ur websitethan I am. And yet, here in Suthern Califrnia and hereacrss this state, there are thusandsf peple every single day wh are gettinghealth care fr the first time - fr the first time -because f this. (Applause.) And, by the way, the website is cntinually wrking better, scheck itut

26、. (Laughter.)But as a cuntry, were nwpised tverage fr millins f Americans,starting n January1st, and that includes mre than 350,000 here in Califrnia wh havealreadysigned up. And thanks in part t theAffrdable Care Act, health care csts are grwing atthe slwest rate in 50years. Emplyer-based health ca

27、re cstsare grwing at abut ne-third therate f a decade ag. And that means that if the studis here ryur emplyers arent havingt spend as much n health care, they can hiremre flks and reinvest mre in the business,and cme up with thse cltechnlgies that - I dnt eactly understand hw they wrk, but-(laughter

28、) - were really neat t lk at. (Laughter.)And, by the way, weve dne allthis while bringing dwn ur deficits. (Applause.) After yearsftrillin-dllar deficits, we reined in spending. Yu wuld think smetimes listening t flksinWashingtn that we havent made any prgress n that frnt. We wund dwn tw wars. Wecha

29、nged a ta cde that was t skewedtwards the wealthiest Americans at the epense f themiddle class. Yu add it all up, weve cut ur deficits bymre than half, and they cntinue t gdwn faster than any time since WrldWar II. (Applause.)S all tld, ur businessescreated 7.8 millin new jbs ver the past 44 mnths.

30、Americahas gne farther, recvered fasterthan mst ther industrialized natins. But, as Melldy said,weve gt mre wrk t d. The stck market is ding great, crprateprfits saring, but tmany Americans arent sharing in that success. And everybdy here wh wrks at DreamWrks-a really gd place t wrk. Im gingt ask Je

31、ff if maybe I can wrk here. (Applause.) But allf yu havefriends and family and neighbrs wh arent as lucky. And yu knw there are still alt f flkswh are struggling ut there. And my tp pririty is making sure that thiscuntryremains a cuntry where everybdy wh is willing t wrk hard can getahead.And wed be

32、 a lt further alngwithut sme f the dysfunctin and bstructin weveseen in Washingtn. (Applause.) We wuld be a lt further alng if we culd just get flks t actwithsme sense - (laughter) - if we didnt have ne wing f ne party that was alittle lessbsessed with repealing health care fr 40 mrecncerned with ma

If they hadnt spent 40 vtes trying t repeal the Affrdable Care Act,theymight have actually taken sme vtes n rebuilding ur infrastructure, rinstituting earlychildhd educatin fr yung peple acrss this cuntry, rinvesting mre mney in basicresearch that helps t create the amazingtec

34、hnlgies that many f yu utilize. Any f theserius prpsals Ive put frward that wuld be creatingjbs right nw, they culd have beentaking vtes n that.Instead f rting fr failure,r refighting ld battles, Republicans in Cngress need t wrkwith us timprve thse things abut the Affrdable Care Act that arent wrki

35、ng as wellas theyshuld, and implement plicies t strengthen the middle class andcreate jbs. 37、sider them.Sme peple have heard me say mylist f tp five mvies - “The Gdfather,” ne and tw,have t be n it. But it turns ut Marln Brand had it easy,because when it cmes t Cngress,theres n such thing as an “ffer they cantrefuse.” (Laughter.) I mean, I just keep n cmingback. (Laughter.) Im ging t keep n

39、middle class.And that means building nthse crnerstnes f what makes fr a strng middle class - gdjbs, a gdeducatin, a hme f yur wn, health care when yu get sick, a secureretirementeven if yure nt rich. Swe can help manufacturers bring mre jbs back t America byinvesting inAmerican clean-energy technlgy

40、, and putting peple t wrk building radsandbridges and schls and high-speed bradband netwrks that attract businessesfrm arundthe wrld.We can prepare ur children andur wrkers fpetitin that theyll face -epandinghigh-quality preschl educatin, redesigning ur high schls, investingincmmunity clleges and jb

43、tting a tur fDreamWrks, I didnt ask, but just lking at faces, I culd tellthere weresme flks wh are here nt because they were brn here, but because they wanttbe here and they bring etrardinary talents t the United States. And thats part f whatmakes Americaspecial. And thats part f what, by theway, ma

44、kes Califrnia special, because itsalways been this magnet f dreamersand strivers.ing frmevery directinsaying t themselves, yu knw, if I wrk hard there I can havemy piece f the AmericanDream.Were ging t cntinue t makeprgress n all thse frnts. And, yes,we are ging tcntinue t implement the health care

45、law. The prduct is gd. Peple want it. And we shuldnt live in a cuntry wherepeple are ging bankrupt just because they get sick. And anybdywh is ging t keep n pushingagainst that, they will meet my resistance, because I amwilling t fi anyprblems that there are, but Im nt ging t abandn peple t make sur

46、ethattheyve gt health insurance in this cuntry. That is nt smething were ging t d. (Applause.) And the gd news is,as I said, thusands f Califrnians are already signing up.I read a really pwerful stryver the weekend I just want t mentin abut uninsured flksin Kentucky whare signing up in drves in ne f

47、 the prest cunties in the cuntry. Sme fthem cant imagine what having healthinsurance wuld be like. And yu read thesestries andyu realize hw imprtant it is fr flks in Kentucky - a state,by the way, that did nt vte frme - (laughter) - and if Kentucky can dit, than every state shuld be able t d it.We s

48、huld be able t epandMedicaid all acrss the cuntry. There are millins f peplewh, right nw,even under the law, may nt get health care that they deserve becausetheirgvernrs have refused t d it just fr plitical reasns - epandingMedicaid. Frtunately,Califrnia,bviusly, is nt ne f them. But thisis a fight

49、that were ging t keep fighting,because its wrth fighting. And thats what Melldy referred t.Its true. Im nt an idelgical guy, but there aresme things I really believe in. Andpart fwhat I believe in is that the essence f this cuntry, what makes thisplace special, is this ideathat Hllywd is glrified an

50、d held up, but Iactually think its true that here, mre thananyplace else, n matter what yulk like, where yu cme frm, what yur last name is, whyu lve, yushuld be able t make it if yure willing t wrk hard.
