Customers or employees can easily walk in front of the vehicle without warning due to the silence of the vehicle.Most routine service work of a Toyota/Lexus hybrid, such as wheel alignments, suspension work, exhaust system, and other routine under-vehicle repairs, is similar to c

7、s of 650 volts. Incorrect handling of high-voltage circuits can cause severe burns or electric shock that could result in serious injury or death. Service on the high-voltage system should always start with steps to manually depower the system.The following steps must be performed prior to servicing

Turn the ignition system OFF and secure the key on your person or in a special lock box. If the vehicle uses a smart key, secure it at least 15 feet fro

9、m the vehicle to prevent inadvertent starting.2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the auxiliary battery. This provides an extra margin of safety when dealing with the HV system.3. While wearing high-voltage linesmans gloves with leather outer gloves, remove the orange service plug. As an e

10、xtra precaution, place a strip of electrical tape across the service plug socket in the HV battery case to prevent objects from entering the cavity. 11、d by another service technician while you are servicing the vehicle. This can be done by securing the service plug on your person or in a special lock box.5. After removing the service plug, wait 5 minutes before touching any part of the high-voltage system. Verify that the system is de-energized by

12、 measuring system voltage with a digital multimeter (DMM). 13、canning a Toyota hybrid electric vehicle for codes, be sure to look for freeze frames that are attached to any DTCs that are found. A freeze frame will have a great deal more information that can help immensely with diagnosis. Freeze frames can be used with many different types of DTCs, including th

14、ose related to the hybrid high-voltage system.Chapter 9 Reading Repair Manuel 9.3 Hybrid Electric Vehicle Maintenance and Service Testing For Proper Insulation The Toyota Hybrid System monitors the voltage on the body and will disconnect the high-voltage source if a fault is indicated. A special tes

15、ter, such as the Fluke model 1587, is required to test if any of the high-voltage circuits are making contact with the body or ground of the vehicle. This procedure would only be necessary in the event of a collision to be sure that there is no electrical connection between the body and the high-vol

16、tage components or circuits before restoring the high-voltage connections. 17、rforms the factory scan tool for the specific vehicle. Toyotas Diagnostic Tester will access all available vehicle information and perform all diagnostic testing on the Toyota Hybrid System.
