yzeandevaluatetheorganizationandthelogicofapassage.Theymayaskhowapassageisconstructed:forinstance,doesitdefine,doesitcompareorcontrast,doesitpresentanewidea,doesitrefuteanidea?Theymayalsoaskhowtheauthorpersuadesreaderstoaccepthisorherassertions,oraboutthereasonbehindtheauthor’suseofanyparticularsupportingdetail.Youmayalsobeaskedtoidentifyassumptionsthattheauthorismaking,toassessthestrengthsandweaknessesoftheauthor’sarguments,ortorecognizeappropriatecounterarguments.Thesequestionsmeasureyourabilitynotonlytocomprehendapassagebuttoevaluateitcritically.However,itisimportantforyoutorealizethatthesequestionsdonotrelyonanykindofformallogic,nordotheyrequirethatyoubefamiliarwithspecifictermsoflogicorargumentation.Youcananswerthesequestionsusingonlytheinformationinthepassageandcarefulreasoning.QuestionsthataskaboutthestyleandtoneofaThesequestionsaskaboutthelanguageofapassageandabouttheideasinapassagethatmaybeexpressedthroughitslanguage.Youmaybeaskedtodeducetheauthor’sattitudetowardanidea,afact,orasituationfromthewordsthatheorsheusestodescribeit.Youmayalsobeaskedtoselectaword
