判斷題（T/F/NG）和Contains旳組合@李威廉IELTSYoushouldspendabout20minutesonQuestions1-13,whicharebasedonReadingPassage1below.ATheLumiereBrothersopenedtheirCinematographe,at14BoulevarddesCapucinesinParis,to100payingcustomersover100yearsago,onDecember8,1895.Beforetheeyesofthestunned,thrilledaudience,photographscametolifeandmovedacrossaflatscreen.BSoordinaryandroutinehasthisbecometousthatittakesadeterminedleapoftheimaginationtograsptheimpactofthosefirstmovingimages.Butitisworthtrying,fortounderstandtheinitialshockofthoseimagesistounderstandtheextraordinarypowerandmagicofcinema,theunique,hypnoticqualitythathasmadefilmthemostdynamic，effectiveartformofthe20thcentury.

COneoftheLumiereBrothers'earliestfilmswasa30-secondpiecewhichshowedasectionofarailwayplatformfloodedwithsunshine.Atrainappearsandheadsstraightforthecamera.Andthatisallthathappens.YettheRussiandirectorAndreiTarkovsky,oneofthegreatestofallfilmartists,describedthefilmasa'workofgenius'.'Asthetrainapproached,'wroteTarkovsky,'panicstartedinthetheatre:peoplejumpedandranaway.Thatwasthemomentwhencinemawasborn.Thefrightenedaudiencecouldnotacceptthattheywerewatchingamerepicture.Pictureswerestill,onlyrealitymoved;thismust,therefore,bereality.Intheirconfusion,theyfearedthatarealtrainwasabouttocrushthem.'DEarlycinemaaudiencesoftenexperiencedthesameconfusion.Intime,theideaoffilmbecamefamiliar,themagicwasaccepted-butitneverstoppedbeingmagic.Filmhasneverlostitsuniquepowertoembraceitsaudiencesandtransportthemtoadifferentworld.ForTarkovsk,thekeytothatmagicwasthewayinwhichcinemacreatedadynamicimageoftherealflowofevents.Astillpicturecouldonlyimplytheexistenceoftime,whiletimeinanovelpassedatthewhimofthereader.Butincinema,thereal,objectiveflowoftimewascaptured.

EOneeffectofthisrealismwastoeducatetheworldaboutitself.Forcinemamakestheworldsmaller.LongbeforepeopletraveledtoAmericaoranywhereelse,theyknewwhatotherplaceslookedlike;theyknewhowotherpeopleworkedandlived.Overwhelmingly,thelivesrecorded-atleastinfilmfiction-havebeenAmerican.Fromtheearliestdaysoftheindustry,Hollywoodhasdominatedtheworldfilmmarket.Americanimagery-thecars,thecities,thecowboys-becametheprimaryimageryoffilm.FilmcarriedAmericanlifeandvaluesaroundtheglobe.

FAnd,thankstofilm,futuregenerationswillknowthe20thcenturymoreintimatelythananyotherperiod.Wecanonlyimaginewhatlifewaslikeinthe14thcenturyorinclassicalGreece.Butthelifeofthemodernworldhasbeenrecordedonfilminmassive,encyclopaedicdetail.Weshallbeknownbetterthananyprecedinggenerations.

GThe'star'wasanothernaturalconsequenceofcinema.Thecinemastarwaseffectivelybornin1910.Filmpersonalitieshavesuchanimmediatepresencethat,inevitably,theybecomesuper-real.Becausewewatchthemsocloselyandbecauseeverybodyintheworldseemstoknowwhotheyare,theyappearmorerealtousthanwedoourselves.Thestarasmagnifiedhumanselfisoneofcinema'smoststrangeandenduringlegacies.HCinemahasalsogivenanewleaseoflifetotheideaofthestory.WhentheLumiereBrothersandotherpioneersbeganshowingoffthisnewinvention,itwasbynomeansobvioushowitwouldbeused.Allthatmatteredatfirstwasthewonderofmovement.Indeed,somesaidthat,oncethisnoveltyhadwornoff,cinemawouldfadeaway.Itwasnomorethanapassinggimmick,afairgroundattraction.ICinemamight,forexample,havebecomeprimarilyadocumentaryform.Oritmighthavedevelopedliketelevision-asastrange,noisytransferofmusic,informationandnarrative.Butwhathappenedwasthatitbecame,overwhelmingly,amediumfortellingstories.Originallythesewereconceivedasshortstories-earlyproducersdoubtedtheabilityofaudiencestoconcentrateformorethanthelengthofareel.Then,in1912,anItalian2-hourfilmwashugelysuccessful,andHollywoodsettleduponthenovel-lengthnarrativethatremainsthedominantcinematicconventionoftoday.JAndithasallhappenedsoquickly.Almostunbelievably,itisamere100yearssincethattrainarrivedandtheaudiencescreamedandfled,convincedbythedangerousrealityofwhattheysaw,and,perhaps,suddenlyawarethattheworldcouldneverbethesameagain-that,maybe,itcouldbebetter,brighter,moreastonishing,morerealthanreality.第一種題型—包括題
