Aims:

-Toencouragestudentstousethetargetvocabularyinsentences.

MaterialsNeeded:

-Flashcardswithpicturesofclassroomobjects

-Realobjects(ifpossible)

-Handoutswithpicturesofclassroomobjects

Procedure:

1.Warm-Up

-Greetthestudentsandaskthemhowtheyarefeelingtoday.

-Singalivelysongordoaquickphysicalwarm-upactivity(e.g.stretchingexercises)toenergizethestudents.

2.IntroductionofVocabulary

-Showthestudentsflashcardswithpicturesofclassroomobjects,suchasdesk,chair,bookshelf,etc.

-Saythenameofeachobjectandhavethestudentsrepeatafteryou.

-Userealobjects(ifavailable)tohelpthestudentsmakeconnectionsbetweenthepicturesandtheobjects.

-Giveouthandoutswithpicturesoftheobjectsandhavethestudentsmatchthepictureswiththewords.

3.ListeningandSpeakingActivity

-Showtheflashcardsoftheclassroomobjectsagainandaskstudentstopointtothecorrectpicture/objectasyousaythewords.

-Modelthesentencepattern"Thisisa/an..."usingoneoftheobjects.Forexample,"Thisisadesk."

-Havethestudentsrepeatthesentencesafteryou.

-Showaflashcardandaskastudenttocometothefrontoftheclassandusethesentencepatterntodescribetheobject.Forexample,"Thisisachair."

-Repeattheactivitywithdifferentstudentsandobjects,graduallyincreasingthedifficultylevel.

4.Follow-UpActivity

-Dividetheclassintosmallergroupsorpairs.

-Giveeachgroupasetofflashcardswiththetargetvocabulary.

-Inturn,eachstudentpicksaflashcard,showsittotheirgroup,andsaysasentenceusingthesentencepattern"Thisisa/an..."

-Encouragethestudentstouseothertargetvocabularywordsintheirsentencesaswell.

-Monitorthegroupsandprovideassistanceasneeded.

5.Consolidation

-Reviewthetargetvocabularybydoingaquickmemorygame.Layouttheflashcardsfacedown,askastudenttoturnovertwocards,andsaythewordsoutloud.Ifthetwocardsmatch,thestudentkeepsthem;ifnot,thecardsareturnedbackover.Encouragethestudentstorepeatthewordsastheyturnoverthecards.

-Afterthegame,gothrougheachflashcardandhavethestudentssaythewordoutloud.

6.Wrap-Up

-Reviewthesentencepattern"Thisisa/an..."andaskafewstudentstosayasentenceusingthetargetvocabulary.

-Havethestudentsrepeatafteryou.
