ABSTRACT:Lowairpressureandrecurrenticingmayaffect
thedischargecharacteristicsofdielectricsanddecreasethe
insulatingperformanceofinsulators.Theaimofthispaperisto
investigatethecoronadischargephenomenaonice-covered
insulatorsatlowairpressurebasedonanicicle/iced-plate
electrodesystemwithdirectcurrent(DC)positivevoltage.
Usingapulsecurrentsensorandanultravioletcamera,
0
CoroCAMIV+,itwaspossibletocarryoutinvestigationson
theinfluenceofatmosphericpressureoncoronaonsetvoltage,
dischargemode,dischargewaveformandmeandischarge
[1-3]
amplitude.Anempiricalfunctionforpredictingcoronaonset
voltagewasdeveloped,sheddingmorelightontheinfluenceof
pressureonmeanpulseamplitudeofpartialdischarge(PD).
Thetheoreticalanalysisindicatesthatthecoronaonsetvoltage
ofthetestedclearancedecreasesexponentiallywiththe
increaseofaltitude,andthatthespecialexponentsareaffected
bythelengthofclearance.Theresultsofthisstudywill
advanceourknowledgeofcoronadischargesaticicletipsand
helptocalculatemorepreciselytheelectricfielddistribution
alongice-coveredinsulators.
