AtaleofthelivesofaMuslimfamilyandspans(跨過)thefirsthalfofthe20thcentury.EachbookinthetrilogywasnamedafterasuburbofCairo.Thefirst,PalaceWalkwassetduringtheBritishoccupationofEgyptearlyinthecentury.Thesecond,PalaceofDesirecoveredthechangingtimesofthe1920s.Thethirdbook,SugarStreetbringsthefamilyintothemid20thcentury.NaguibMahfouz
