ThecapitalcityofIndia,NewDelhi'spowerdemandfellby1000MW.TheCanadianprovinceofOntario,notincludingthecityofToronto,sawadecreaseof6%ofelectricitywhileTorontosawadecreaseof15.1%(nearlydoubledfrom8.7%thepreviousyear)asmanybusinessesdarkened,

CriticsclaimedthatbecauseEarthHourvolunteersdrivearoundtogetthewordout,andbecausepeopleuseuneconomicalbatteryoperatedtorchesinsteadofmoreeconomicallightbulbs,it'spossiblethatEarthHouractuallyresultedinanincreaseinenergyusage.
