HalloweenHalloweenisanannualholiday.Itiscelebratedonthe31stofOctober.ItwasanancientCelticfestival.ButnowitistheChristianholiday-AllSaints'Day.TheancientCeltsbelievedthattheborderbetweenthisworldandtheOtherworldbecamethinonthisdayandspirits(bothharmlessandharmful)couldpassthrough.

Thefamily'sancestorswerehonoredandinvitedhomewhileharmfulspiritswerewardedoff.TheCeltsthoughtthatonHalloweenthewitchescameout.Astheywereafraidofthewitchestheyputondifferentclothesandpaintedtheirfacestodeceivetheevilspirits.

Theyalsoplacedfoodandsmallgiftsnearthedoorsoftheirhousesforthewitches.Halloweencostumesaretraditionallymonsters,ghosts,skeletons,witchesanddevils.Theywereworntoscareoffevilspirits.

Witcheshavealonghistory.Legendstellthatwitchesgather,arrivingonbroomsticks,tocelebrateaparty.

Superstitionstellthatwitchescastspellsonunsuspectingpeople,transformthemselvesintodifferentforms.
